Darius Taylor
Darius Taylor (born October 2, 1978) is an American basketball coach and former player who is currently the General Manager of thConnecticut Sunof the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Career Taylor began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Temple in 2004 under Dawn Staley. He was later an assistant coach at South Carolina, also under Staley. He left South Carolina in 2015 after his fiancée Joni Taylor was named the head coach at Georgia. Atlanta Dream Taylor was named an assistant coach for the Atlanta Dream of the WNBA on December 27, 2017. He was named interim head coach on July 24, 2021 after previous interim head coach Mike Petersen resigned due to health issues. Connecticut Sun Taylor was named general manager of the Connecticut Sun on November 29, 2022. Personal life Taylor's wife Joni is currently the head women's basketball coach at Texas A&M. Joni Taylor
Joni Taylor (née Crenshaw; born March 7, 1979) is the head women's college basketball coach for Texas A&M. Prior to Texas A&M, she was head coach at Georgia from 2015 to 2022. Playing history Born Joni Crenshaw in Meridian, Mississippi, she was the 1997 Gatorade Player of the Year for her home state, after leading Meridian High School to a 67-7 record during her junior and senior seasons. She also won three state titles in track and field. While attending the University of Alabama, she helped the Crimson Tide to the 1998 and 1999 NCAA Tournaments and the 2000 and 2001 Women's National Invitation Tournaments. She was a two-year starter and scored 716 points, grabbed 555 rebounds and blocked 103 shots, making her No. 4 among the school's career leaders. 2021 Atlanta Dream Season
The 2021 WNBA season was the 14th season for the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association. The team began the season on May 14, 2021 at home against the Connecticut Sun. This was the first season that the Dream will play home games at the Gateway Center Arena at College Park. In the 2019 offseason the team elected to move from State Farm Arena. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 season was played at a neutral site. Mike Petersen began the season as interim head coach, but stepped down on July 24 due to health reasons. Darius Taylor took over as interim coach through the end of the regular season. The Dream began the season by losing their first two games, but then going on a four game winning streak. That win streak was followed by a four game losing streak. After winning their next game, the Dream were 5–6 through their first eleven games.
