Daren Puppa
Daren James Puppa (born March 23, 1965) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender in the National Hockey League, NHL. During his career, he played for the Buffalo Sabres, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He won the 1985 NCAA Championship with the RPI Engineers. He is the cousin of NHL hockey player Ralph Backstrom. Career biography Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Puppa started his professional career in 1985–86 NHL season, 1985, splitting time between the Buffalo Sabres and the American Hockey League, AHL's Rochester Americans. Aged 20 years, 223 days, he made his NHL debut on November 1, 1985, and posted a 2-0 shutout win over the Edmonton Oilers. In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as the goalie) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. 1999–2000 NHL Season
The 1999–2000 NHL season was the 83rd regular season of the National Hockey League. With the addition of the expansion Atlanta Thrashers, 28 teams each played 82 games. This was the first season played in which teams were awarded a point for an overtime loss. The New Jersey Devils defeated the defending champion Dallas Stars for their second Stanley Cup championship. Jim Carey (ice Hockey)
James M. Carey (born May 31, 1974), is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender who played for the Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, and St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League (NHL). Carey was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, but grew up in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Playing career Carey made his college hockey debut with the Wisconsin Badgers in 1992. He was the highest drafted goalie in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, taken in the 2nd round, 32nd overall by the Washington Capitals. Before coming to Washington, Carey played in the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in 1993 and played in the AHL with the Portland Pirates. 1993 NHL Expansion Draft
The 1993 NHL Expansion Draft was an expansion draft held by the National Hockey League (NHL) to fill the rosters of the league's two expansion teams for the 1993–94 season, the Florida Panthers and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. The draft took place on June 24, 1993, in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Rules The 24 teams existing in the league at the time of the draft were each allowed to protect one goaltender, five defensemen, and nine forwards. All first-year pros were exempt, and all second-year pros on the reserve list were also exempt. Forty-eight players were chosen in the draft, two from each franchise. 1992–93 NHL Season
The 1992–93 NHL season was the 76th regular season of the National Hockey League. Each player wore a patch on their jersey throughout the season to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Stanley Cup. The league expanded to 24 teams with the addition of the Ottawa Senators and the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Montreal Canadiens won their league-leading 24th Cup by defeating the Los Angeles Kings four games to one. This remains the last time that a Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup. Jacques Cloutier
Jacques Cloutier (born January 3, 1960) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, and Quebec Nordiques between 1981 and 1994. He is currently an assistant coach working under Bob Hartley with Avangard Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Internationally Cloutier played for the Canadian national team at the 1986 World Championships, winning a bronze medal. Playing and coaching career Selected in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres, Cloutier also played for the Chicago Blackhawks and Quebec Nordiques.
