Dara-i Sufi Bala District is a district in Samangan Province, Afghanistan. It was created in 2005 from Darah Sof District. Location The district is surrounded by eight other districts. Dara-i Sufi Bala is bordered by Dara-i Sufi Payin District to the north, Aybak District and Khuram Wa Sarbagh District to the northeast, Ruyi Du Ab District to the east, Kahmard District to the southeast, Yakawlang District to the south, Balkhab District to the west, and Kishindih District to the northwest. Sar-e Pol, also spelled Sari Pul (Dari/Pashto: ), is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan, located in the north of the country. Balkhab District
Balkhab ( fa, بلخاب) is a district of Sar-e Pol Province, Afghanistan. The district seat lies at Balkhab, also known as Tarkhoj. Coal is mined in the area. A massive copper deposit is also located in Balkhab district of Sar-e pol province, the new copper discovery is bigger than the current Aynak copper deposit in Logar province, southeast of Kabul, according to a GSA report. It is valued at billions of U.S. dollars and one of the biggest untapped copper mines in Afghanistan. Yakawlang District
Yakawlang District ( fa, یکاولنگ) is located in the northwestern part of Bamyan Province. Its population is 76,897 (2011) predominantly from the Hazara people, Hazara ethnic group. The capital city Yakawlang (altitude 2714m) formerly held 60,000 residents, and it was destroyed by Taliban forces in 2001. Massacres of civilians by the Taliban were reported by Human Rights groups.There is a gravel surfaced airport near the city. The road between the provincial capital Bamyan city and Yakawlang district was asphalted in October 2012, reducing the four-hour distance to 80 minutes.
