Daphna Dove
Daphna Dove (born 14 July 1975 in Hamburg, Germany) is an American musician. She is best known for her appearance on the TV Show Rock Star: INXS. Early life Daphna was born in Germany in 1975 and raised in New York City, to which she moved at age 3 with her parents, Jewish-Israeli-German singer-mother Elisa Gabbai and her Jewish-Yugoslavian-German father Nico Anducic, who is credited with having discovered the band Scorpions. Although she graduated from Syracuse University with a double major in Communications and International Relations, Daphna resolved to pursue a music career, and moved to Los Angeles for that purpose. In Los Angeles, Daphna played with the band Lexington and worked as a legal secretary until her successful audition for the TV Show '' Rock Star: INXS'', in which INXS was looking for a new lead singer. INXS
INXS (pronounced "in excess") were an Australian rock band, formed as The Farriss Brothers in 1977 in Sydney, New South Wales. The band's founding members were bassist Garry Gary Beers, main composer and keyboardist Andrew Farriss, drummer Jon Farriss, guitarist Tim Farriss, lead singer and main lyricist Michael Hutchence, and guitarist and saxophonist Kirk Pengilly. For 20 years, INXS were fronted by Hutchence, whose magnetic stage presence made him the focal point of the band. Initially known for their new wave/pop style, the band later developed a harder pub rock style that included funk and dance elements. Rock The Casbah
"Rock the Casbah" is a song by the English punk rock band The Clash, released in 1982. The song was released as the second single from their fifth album, ''Combat Rock''. It reached number eight on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in the US (their only top 10 single in the United States) and, along with the track "Mustapha Dance", it also reached number eight on the dance chart. Recording "Rock the Casbah" was composed by the band's drummer Topper Headon, based on a piano part that he had been toying with. Finding himself in the studio without his three bandmates, Headon progressively taped the drum, piano and bass parts, recording the bulk of the song's musical instrumentation himself. "What You Need" is a song recorded by the Australian band INXS. It is the leadoff track from their 1985 album, '' Listen Like Thieves''. "What You Need" was the lead single off the album in Australia and New Zealand, while it was in USA and Europe the second single after "This Time" and was the band's first American Top Ten hit, peaking at #5 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles chart. After the album ''Listen Like Thieves'' was recorded and ready to be given to the record label for inspection, producer Chris Thomas was worried that the album didn't have a "hit". As Andrew Farriss recalled in a 2005 interview; "'What You Need' is another example of a huge hit that essentially took no time at all.
