Danville is a city in Yell County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,409 at the 2010 census. Along with Dardanelle, it is one of two county seats for Yell County. Danville is part of the Russellville Micropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Danville is located at (35.053572, -93.391623). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which is land and (1.40%) is water. History After Yell County was created in 1840, local commissioners met to select a site for the county seat, settling on what is now Danville as the best location. The city was laid out in December 1841 by James Briggs, James Williams, and Nerick Morse. Yell County is a county in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 20,263. The county has two county seats, Dardanelle and Danville. Yell County is Arkansas's 42nd county, formed on December 5, 1840, from portions of Scott and Pope counties. It was named after Archibald Yell, who was the state's first member of the United States House of Representatives and the second governor of Arkansas. Corinth is a town in Yell County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 65 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Russellville Micropolitan Statistical Area. History According to a few residences, who have lived in the community since incorporation, a group of landowners got together in thoughts of incorporating, back when the city of Belleville was a bustling town (due to the railroad that went through the town at the time). The city was wanting to acquire portions of the land that is now Corinth. Danville High School is a comprehensive public secondary school located in Danville, Arkansas, United States, for students in grades nine through twelve. Danville is the sole high school administered by the Danville School District. The boundary of the school district and that of the high school includes Danville and a portion of Corinth.
