Danube–Oder Canal
The Danube–Oder Canal (german: Donau-Oder-Kanal; pl, Kanał Odra-Dunaj) is a planned and partially constructed artificial waterway in the Lobau floodplain of the Danube at Vienna, that was supposed to stretch along the Morava River, Central Europe, Morava River to the Oder River, Oder at the city of Kędzierzyn-Koźle in Poland. Records of further plans of such a waterway stem from the 19th century. During Nazi Germany, the Nazi era, the idea was reborn and the project was put into motion. Kłodnica Canal
The Kłodnicki Canal ( pl, Kanał Kłodnicki) is a canal along the Kłodnica River in Upper Silesia, Poland between the Oder River and Gliwice. Constructed when the territory was part of Prussian Silesia, it was originally known as the Klodnitz Canal (german: Klodnitzkanal). Because the Kłodnica (''Klodnitz'') was not navigable, a canal was needed to provide transportation for the flourishing coal and ore mining, as well as the metallurgy industry in the Upper Silesia region. Designed by John Baildon, an engineer from Scotland and Friedrich Wilhelm von Reden, Director of the High Mining Office in Breslau (Wrocław), the canal was built between 1792 and 1812. The Elbe (; cs, Labe ; nds, Ilv or ''Elv''; Upper and dsb, Łobjo) is one of the major rivers of Central Europe. It rises in the Giant Mountains of the northern Czech Republic before traversing much of Bohemia (western half of the Czech Republic), then Germany and flowing into the North Sea at Cuxhaven, northwest of Hamburg. Groß-Enzersdorf
Groß-Enzersdorf is a town and municipality in the district of Gänserndorf in the Austrian state of Lower Austria, directly to the east of Vienna and north of the river Danube. Apart from the town itself, it also comprises seven subordinated municipalities. History While the area of the municipality was probably inhabited in pre-Roman times, the first written mention of the settlement by the name of ''Encinesdorf'' dates to 1160.
