Dansbandskampen 2008
Dansbandskampen is a television show established by Peter Settman and his production company Baluba. Peter Settman is also the show host. The show is broadcast over Sveriges Television, with season 1 airing October–December 2008. In 2008, five bands participated each week. Each week consisted of one moment where the bands were free to perform a pop or rock song, followed up by the second moment, ''Dansbandsklassikern'' ("The dansband classic"), where a famous dansband song was performed, chosen by drawing. The finalist bands are given an own, new own-produced song, followed up by the two remaining bands performing their own version of a song. There are discussions of spreading the concept outside Sweden, with a disco/folk music version in Poland and a country music version in the United States. Peter Settman
Peter Settman (born 24 February 1969) is a Sweden, Swedish actor, comedian, television presenter, screenwriter, and television producer. Settman is known for his appearances on the comedy shows ''Byhåla'' (featuring the characters Ronny and Ragge), ''Så ska det låta'' and ''Dansbandskampen''. Early life Settman was raised by his mother in Sätra. He is an only child born to parents Gunnar Törnstrand and Marianne Settman, both of whom never married each other. His father died of cancer when he was fourteen years old. Education and career Settman started acting in Skärholmen at the age of ten and studied at Södra Latin along with eventual Ronny and Ragge actors Fredde Granberg and Gila Bergqvist. At age 21 he acted in skits in the youth television show ''Kosmopol'' on local television in Växjö. In 1989 Settman started his production company Baluba, which he still owns and runs today. The Playtones
The Playtones is a Sweden, Swedish 1950s rock n roll band formed in 2008 in Kallinge. Their music is influenced by rockabilly. It was called Boppin' Steve & The Playtones before 2008. The Playtones won the dansband competition Dansbandskampen in Dansbandskampen 2009, 2009. 2011 the band appeared in Melodifestivalen 2011, Melodifestivalen, the Swedish preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Dansband Music
(; "dance band"), or in Norwegian and Danish, is a Swedish term for a band that plays ("dance band music"). ' is often danced to in pairs. Jitterbug and foxtrot music are often included in this category. The music is primarily inspired by swing, schlager, country, jazz, and rock. The main influence for rock-oriented bands is the rock music of the 1950s and 1960s. The terms ' and ' were coined around 1970, when Swedish popular music developed a signature style. The genre developed primarily in Sweden, but has spread to neighbouring countries Norway, Denmark and the Swedish-speaking regions of Finland. Willez
Willez is a Swedish dansband from Ljungbyhed made up of Linus Troedsson (vocals), Emil Hansen (guitar), Johannes Olofsson (bass), Oliver Brons (drummer) and Niklas Lazukic (keyboards). Originally the band was named Milles after the guitarist member Emil Hansen, but was renamed Willez after they discovered that there was already a band called Milles. Elisa's
Elisa's is a Sweden, Swedish dansband from the Västra Götaland County, Skaraborg, Sweden established in 2009. The band is named after its lead singer Elisa Lindström. The band won the 2010 ''Dansbandskampen'' competition. The band was launched by young artists in Musikgymnasiet i Skövde (the Music College in Skövde). During late 2010, the band's fame spread in Sweden. Their first single, "Hey Go So Long", was recorded in February 2010. Titanix
Titanix is a dansband, established in 1979 in Valdemarsvik, Sweden. The band appeared at the finals of the Swedish dansband championships in 1997 and 2001, before finishing up at the second place during Dansbandskampen 2009. During their 2009 Dansbandskampen appearance, it was mentioned that the band was not named after the boat RMS Titanic that sank in 1912, but rather an ice hockey stick.
