Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat
''Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat'' is a 1991 racing game developed and published in arcades by Leland Corporation. It stars American IndyCar driver Danny Sullivan, and features the tracks of the CART series of the early 1990s. Home versions of the game were released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Amiga, Atari ST, and Commodore 64. Gameplay ''Indy Heat'' featured four-player capability, and was similar in gameplay to ''Super Off Road''. Players earned money based on their race finishing positions, which was spent on improving their car. The race season culminated with the Tradewest Speed Bowl, which loosely resembled the Indianapolis 500. Tracks There are 14 tracks in the arcade version, all of which are based on actual IndyCar racetracks. The NES port includes 9 of those tracks though all have been renamed. Leland Corporation
The Leland Corporation was a manufacturer of several arcade video games in the 1980s and early 1990s. The company was formed when Tradewest purchased the ailing Cinematronics in 1987. Notable among these were Quarterback (1987) and John Elway's Quarterback (1989), '' Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp'' (1991), and '' Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Super Off Road'', which spawned an expansion and two sequels at Leland's successor company Midway Games ('' Off Road Challenge'' and ''Offroad Thunder''). John Rowe, (co-founder and President of Tradewest) became the President of the new Leland Corporation and guided the reorganization and technology evolution which led to a number of popular video games which were positioned to transition into the new market of home systems including the NES, Game Boy and Sega Genesis. The Indianapolis 500, formally known as the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race, and commonly called the Indy 500, is an annual automobile race held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) in Speedway, Indiana, United States, an enclave suburb of Indianapolis. The event is traditionally held over Memorial Day weekend, usually the last weekend of May. It is contested as part of the IndyCar Series, the top level of American open-wheel car racing, a formula colloquially known as "Indy car racing". ''The One'' was a video game magazine in the United Kingdom which covered 16-bit home gaming during the late 1980s and early 1990s. It was first published by EMAP in October 1988 and initially covered computer games aimed at the Atari ST, Amiga, and IBM PC compatible markets. Like many similar magazines, it contained sections of news, game reviews, previews, tips, help guides, columnist writings, readers' letters, and cover-mounted disks of game demos. The magazine was sometimes criticised for including "filler" content such as articles on Arnold Schwarzenegger with the justification that an upcoming film had a computer game tie-in.
