Danny Gathings
Danny Gathings (born December 11, 1980) is an American former professional basketball player. He spent time playing in Finland and Sweden after completing his collegiate career in the United States at High Point University. In 2003–04, he was the Big South Conference's player of the year. College Gathings starred at Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy in Winston-Salem, North Carolina before starting his collegiate career at Virginia Tech in 2000–01. In his freshman season, Gathings played in 20 games and averaged 7.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest. He decided to transfer at the end of the year, however, and chose High Point University as his school of choice. Due to NCAA transfer by-laws, Gathings redshirted his true sophomore year in 2001–02. He made an immediate impact when he became eligible in 2002–03: he averaged 18.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game. Forward (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Over time, as more specialized roles developed, each of the guards and forwards came to be differentiated, and today each of the five positions are known by unique names, each of which has also been assigned a number: point guard (PG) or 1, the shooting guard (SG) or 2, the small forward (SF) or 3, the power forward (PF) or 4, and the center (C) or 5. Double-double
In basketball, a double-double is a single-game performance in which a player accumulates ten or more in two of the following five statistical categories: points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocked shots. The first "double" in the term refers to the two (''double'') categories and the second "double" refers to accumulating ten or more (typically ''double'' digits) in that category. Similarly, a player records a triple-double, quadruple-double, and quintuple-double when accumulating ten or more in three, four, or all five of the statistical categories, respectively. Swedish Basketball League
Svenska Basketligan, or the Swedish Basketball League (SBL), is the premier league for professional basketball in Sweden. The league was originally established in 1992 as Basketligan and was known as that prior to the season of 2006–07, but when the Swedish company Obol Investment signed an agreement with the Swedish Basketball Federation in early October 2006, the league was renamed Obol Basketball League (OBL). Korisliiga
The Korisliiga is the top-tier professional basketball league in Finland, comprising the top 12 teams of the country. In its current format, each team plays all other teams two times in the regular season, once at home and once away, for a total of 22 regular season games. The top six teams advances continues to upper stage and the bottom six teams plays lower stage after 22 games, 5 games at home and 5 games at away versus all other teams in stage. The best two teams from lower group joins to playoffs with upper group teams. Playoffs are played best of seven format, except the quarter-finals which are played best of 5 format.
