Daniel Andrew Carlton (born 22 December 1983) is an English former professional Association football, footballer. As a player, he was a forward (association football), forward from 2002 to 2014 before returning to football in 2015. He started his career with Morecambe F.C., Morecambe before joining Carlisle United F.C., Carlisle United, he returned to Morecambe a year later for a loan spell. he then went on loan to Darlington F.C., Darlington before joining Bury F.C., Bury on a permanent deal. He then had a loan spell at Grimsby Town F.C., Grimsby Town and Morecambe again before completing a permanent move back to the club. He joined Hyde United F.C., Hyde and retired after finishing his career with a loan spell at Chester F.C., Chester. In August 2015, Carlton returned to football, signing a contract with Lancaster City F.C., Lancaster City of the Northern Premier League. In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. In a system of promotion and relegation, the best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. In some leagues, playoffs or qualifying rounds are also used to determine rankings. This process can continue through several levels of divisions, with teams being exchanged between adjacent divisions. The 2006–07 season was the 28th season of the Football Conference. Overview This season saw the promotion of Dagenham & Redbridge and Morecambe to the Football League for the first time, whilst Droylsden, Farsley Celtic, Histon and Salisbury City were promoted to the Conference National for the first time in their history. At the end of the season Scarborough and Farnborough Town went out of business, whilst Hayes and Yeading merged to form a new club, Hayes & Yeading United and Moor Green merged with Southern League side Solihull Borough to form Solihull Moors (which took Moor Green's place in the Conference North). Oxford United drew the biggest crowds, with an average of 6,332 spectators and a peak of 11,065 in their match against Woking.
