Daniël Brüggen
Daniël Brüggen (born 1958) is a Dutch recorder player. He is the nephew of Frans Brüggen and studied with Kees Boeke at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. In 1978 he founded, together with Bertho Driever, Paul Leenhouts, and Karel van Steenhoven, the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet, which was disbanded in 2007. Haarlem (; predecessor of ''Harlem'' in English) is a city and municipality in the Netherlands. It is the capital of the province of North Holland. Royal Conservatory Of The Hague
The Royal Conservatoire ( nl, Koninklijk Conservatorium, KC) is a conservatoire in The Hague, providing higher education in music and dance. The conservatoire was founded by King William I in 1826, making it the oldest conservatoire in the Netherlands. Bussum
Bussum () is a commuter town and former municipality in the Gooi region in the south east of the province of North Holland in the Netherlands near Hilversum. Since 2016, Bussum has been part of the new municipality of Gooise Meren. Bussum had a population of 33,595 in 2019 and covered an area of . History For a long time Bussum was not more than a hamlet situated amongst the heathlands of the Gooi and was first mentioned in 1306. In this time, Bussum was a large heathland with many small farms, sheep pens and forests as is shown on old maps. Since Bussum is situated near the fortified town Naarden it was governed by Naarden from 1369 onward. In 1470 Bussum was inhabited by about 250 people, which made it the smallest village in the Gooi. Bussum became independent from Naarden in 1817, yet it was not until the arrival of a railway line in 1874 that Bussum began to flourish. Karel van Steenhoven (born November 1958 in Voorburg) is a Dutch recorder player and composer. Biography Starting with a green plastic instrument when he was four years old, Steenhoven began to study recorder with a guitar and mandolin teacher. Later, he studied recorder with Kees Boeke at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. After completing his graduate recital in 1983, he studied composition with Robert Heppener and Tristan Keuris. Early Music
Early music generally comprises Medieval music (500–1400) and Renaissance music (1400–1600), but can also include Baroque music (1600–1750). Originating in Europe, early music is a broad musical era for the beginning of Western classical music. Terminology Interpretations of historical scope of "early music" vary. The original Academy of Ancient Music formed in 1726 defined "Ancient" music as works written by composers who lived before the end of the 16th century. Paul Leenhouts
Paul Leenhouts is a Dutch recorder player, composer and conductor. Leenhouts studied music at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. Together with Daniël Brüggen, Bertho Driever, and Karel van Steenhoven, he founded the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet in 1978. He is a composer and arranger of several works for recorder. In 1986 he started the Holland Open Recorder Festival in Utrecht, and has been director of the International Baroque Institute in Boston. He has taught recorder at the Sweelinck Conservatory, is the Director of Early Music Studies at the University of North Texas, and holds master classes in different countries. His interest in music of the Renaissance led him to collaborate with different ensembles recorders, including being the founder and artistic director of The Royal Wind Music from 1997 to 2010.
