Danish Rock
Danish rock is rock music played in Denmark. Starting in the 1950s, rock music was inspired by the United States of America, where it was becoming extremely popular, although records could be difficult to obtain in the country . Danish jazz artists began adopting the rock genre. Towards the end of the 1950s and throughout the 1960s, Danish rock was heavily influenced by British music, one of the genres being R&B. By the late 1960s, Danish rock was again influenced by American rock. During the 1980s, the Danish rock consisted mainly of pop-rock bands, until the rock subgenre grunge broke through to the mainstream in the 1990s. In the late 1990s and early 21st century Indie rock was very popular. The Beefeaters
The Beefeaters were a Danish garage rock band active from 1964 to 1971. A precursor to this band was formed in Copenhagen in early 1964, but their strong orientation towards blues-rock began only with the arrival of Peter Thorup in 1966. In 1967, The Beefeaters played as support band for Jimi Hendrix, John Mayall and Pink Floyd during their concerts in Denmark. The Beefeaters produced two albums: ''Beefeaters'' (1967) and ''Meet You There'' (1969). Both albums were top-notch "real" blues-rock efforts to file along albums by John Mayall, early Fleetwood Mac and even Cuby + Blizzards, Cuby & The Blizzards. The first album was, along with Steppeulvene's ''Hip (album), Hip'', among the most important Danish albums of 1967. Gasolin
Gasolin' were a Danish rock band from Christianshavn, Copenhagen, formed by Kim Larsen, Franz Beckerlee, and Wili Jønsson in 1969. Their first drummer was the late Bjørn Uglebjerg. He was replaced by Søren Berlev in 1971. At their formation, the guitar playing of Franz Beckerlee was inspired by Jimi Hendrix and the vocals and lyrics of Larsen were inspired by Bob Dylan, while the rhythm playing of Jønsson and Berlev owed much to The Beatles. However, they would soon develop their own musical style. The pop sensibility of Kim Larsen, the artistic attitude of Franz Beckerlee and the musical competence of Wili Jønsson would prove to be a recipe for success. Maxwells (band)
Maxwell's, last known as Maxwell's Tavern, was a bar/restaurant and music club in Hoboken, New Jersey. Over several decades the venue attracted a wide variety of acts looking for a change from the New York City concert spaces across the river. Maxwell's initially closed its doors on July 31, 2013, and reopened as Maxwell's Tavern in 2014, under new ownership. It closed again in February 2018. Burnin Red Ivanhoe
Burnin Red Ivanhoe is a Danish progressive rock band formed in Copenhagen in 1967. History The band had their first appearance in 1968 under the name The Burnin Red Ivanhoes. Soon Per Kragh-Møller was replaced by Bo Thrige Andersen and Steen Lange by Arne Würgler, and the band name was shortened to Burnin Red Ivanhoe. The record label Sonet became aware of the band and released their debut album M 144 as a double LP in 1969. In addition to Claësson, Vogel, Würgler and Anderson, Kim Menzer (vocals, trumpet, saxophone and harmonica), Ole Fick (vocals and guitar), Steffen Andersen and Mads Vinding (both bass) were also involved as new band members. Savage Rose
The Savage Rose is a Danish psychedelic rock group, formed in 1967. Career The band was founded in 1967 by Thomas Koppel, Anders Koppel, Alex Riel, Jens Rugsted, Flemming Ostermann, and singer Annisette Koppel. Ilse Marie Koppel was also participating. Nils Tuxen replaced Flemming Ostermann from their second album. Since the mid-1970s, the group was an acoustic trio consisting of Thomas Koppel, Annisette Koppel (then Hansen) and John Ravn as a core. From the beginning of the 1990s, the group returned to electric instrumentation. Thomas Koppel died on February 25, 2006. Alrune Rod (formed 1968) was a Danish psychedelic rock band. Alrune Rod appeared in the 1971 concert film '' Skæve Dage I Thy The film whose title loosely translates as ''Stoned Days in Thy'' documents Thylejren, the first rock music festival in Denmark which took place in Thy in 1970.
