Danish Prison Federation
The Danish Prison Federation ( da, Fængselsforbundet i Danmark) is a trade union representing workers in the Prison and Probation Service in Denmark, Greenland and the Faeroe Islands. The union was founded in December 1913 with the merger of local unions representing prison staff in Vridsløselille, Horsens and Nyborg. By 1954, the union was affiliated to the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions LO, The Danish Confederation of Trade Unions (Danish: ''LO, Landsorganisationen i Danmark'' or simply ''LO'') was founded in 1898 and was an umbrella organisation (the largest of the three national trade union centers in Denmark) for 18 Danish tra ... Vridsløselille Prison
Vridsløselille Prison (Danish: Vridsløselille Fængsel) is a former state prison located in Albertslund in the western suburbs of Copenhagen in Denmark. It was operated as a state prison from its opening in 1859 to January 2016 and then served as a special departure center for rejected asylum seekers with prison sentences until February 2018. The prison was used for the enforcement of imprisonment and execution of arrests and had a total of 241 inmates. The State Prison in Vridsløselille was a closed prison facility for men over the age of 23. It was replaced by Storstrøm Prison on the isle of Falster, which was opened in 2017. Nyborg
Nyborg is a city in central Denmark, located in Nyborg Municipality on the island of Funen and with a population of 17,525 (2022). It is the easternmost settlement on Funen. The Danish Trade Union Confederation ( da, Fagbevægelsens Hovedorganisation, FH) is the largest national trade union centre in Denmark. On formation in 2019, it had 79 affiliated unions, with a total of 1.4 million members. History The confederation was founded on 1 January 2019, when the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) merged with the Confederation of Professionals in Denmark (FTF). LO consisted of 18 unions, with a total of one million members, most of whom worked in the private sector, while FTF consisted of 70 professional organisations, with a total of just under 500,000 members, most of whom worked in the public sector.
