Danish Grand Prix
The Danish Grand Prix was an auto race for open-wheel cars. Last held for Formula One cars in 1962, the race is now defunct. The Danish Grand Prix was held at the Roskilde Ring circuit near Roskilde. By standards of the era, the circuit was very small, at just three-quarters of a mile for the lap. Formula One cars were completing the lap in just over 42 seconds. The circuit ultimately limited the growth potential of the race, and the event was not considered to be added to the World Drivers Championship, but during its relatively short life in the 1960s, it did stage some memorable races. Unusually for the time, the Grand Prix was actually decided over a series of heats, either four or three in number. Jyllands-Ringen
FDM Jyllands-Ringen is a motor racing circuit in Resenbro, near Silkeborg in Denmark. The circuit was extended from to in 2003, by linking the track to an adjacent oval circuit. Christianshavn (literally, "ingChristian's Harbour") is a neighbourhood in Copenhagen, Denmark. Part of the Indre By District, it is located on several artificial islands between the islands of Zealand and Amager and separated from the rest of the city centre by the Inner Harbour. Brabham
Brabham () is the common name for Motor Racing Developments Ltd., a British racing car manufacturer and Formula One racing team. Founded in 1960 by Australian driver Jack Brabham and British-Australian designer Ron Tauranac, the team won four Drivers' and two Constructors' World Championships in its 30-year Formula One history. Jack Brabham's 1966 FIA Drivers' Championship remains the only such achievement using a car bearing the driver's own name. Kurt Ahrens Jr
Kurt Karl-Heinrich Ahrens, also known as Kurt Ahrens Jr., (born 19 April 1940 in Braunschweig, Germany) is a former sports car racing and touring car racing driver who occasionally appeared in German Grand Prix races, mostly in Formula 2 cars. His father, Kurt Ahrens Sr., was a German speedway champion who competed against his son for five years. Kurt Ahrens Jr. started in 1958 with a Cooper-Norton Formula 3 and won the German Formula Junior title in 1961 and 1963, when his father retired. He then raced Formula 2 and was present when Jim Clark was killed at the Hockenheimring in 1968. Due to the long Nürburgring track, it was possible to take part in the German Grand Prix in Formula 2 cars. Peter Jeffrey Revson (February 27, 1939 – March 22, 1974) was an American race car driver and heir to the Revlon cosmetics fortune. He was a two-time Formula One race winner and had success at the Indianapolis 500. Background Peter Revson was born in New York City, the son of Martin Revson (1910–2016) and Julie (née Phelps) Hall (1914–2000). Martin had been a founding partner (along with his brother Charles Revson) of Revlon cosmetics, but had parted ways in 1958 and become chairman of Del Laboratories in 1963. 1961 Danish Grand Prix
The II Grote Prijs van Danske (or 2nd Danish Grand Prix) was held on 26–27 August 1961, at the Roskilde Ring circuit, Roskilde, Denmark. The race was a non-Championship event run for cars complying with Formula One rules. The race was run over three heats, one of 20 laps and two of 30 laps, and was won overall by Stirling Moss, who won all three heats in his Lotus 18/21. This was the first Formula One event to be held at the Roskildering, which was eventually closed in 1969. The first heat was held on the 26 August, a Saturday, with the final two heats on the Sunday. Race summary The first heat saw Moss win by two tenths of a second from Australian Jack Brabham, with Innes Ireland in third.
