Aleksandra Dionisyevna Danilova (''Russian'': Александра Дионисьевна Данилова; November 20, 1903 – July 13, 1997) was a Russian-born prima ballerina, who became an American citizen. In 1989, she was recognized for lifetime achievements in ballet as a Kennedy Center Honoree. Early life Born in Peterhof, Russian Empire on November 20, 1903, she trained at the Russian Imperial Ballet School in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). She was one of the few Russian-trained ballerinas to tour outside Russia. Her first professional post was as a member of St. Petersburg's Imperial Ballet. Pelageya Aleksandrovna Danilova (russian: Пелаге́я Алекса́ндровна Дани́лова; 4 May 1918 – 31 July 2001) was a Russian artistic gymnast. She competed at the 1952 Summer Olympics, finishing within top 12 in all artistic gymnastics events, and winning one gold and one silver medal. After marriage she changed her last name to Demirdzhiyan (russian: Демирджиян). In 1953 she graduated from the Institute of Physical Education in Saint Petersburg and after retirement worked as a gymnastics coach, first with Burevestnik and then as a head coach of Lokomotiv. Viktor Danilov (20 July 1927 – 7 December 2016) was a parish priest of the Greek Catholic parish in Grodno, dean of the Belarusian Greek Catholic Church, chaplain, writer in Soviet times and religious dissident. Valentin Danilov (russian: Валентин Данилов, born 1948) is a Russian physicist, whose research deals with the effect of solar activity on space satellites. In November 2004, he was found guilty and sentenced to 14 years for treason. Many scientists and human rights organizations, both in Russia and worldwide protested the sentence because the information he passed to China was, in fact, declassified in 1992. Danilov was head of the Thermo-Physics Centre at Krasnoyarsk State Technical University (KTSU). Tamara Petrovna Danilova (russian: Тамара Петровна Данилова, born July 30, 1939) is a Russian discus thrower who won the European title in 1969. She placed fifth at the 1971 European Championships and fourth at the 1972 Summer Olympics, both times losing to the world record holder Faina Melnik. In the Olympic final Danilova set a new Olympic record at 62.64 m, surpassing the record of Argentina Menis set in the qualifying round two days earlier.
