Danielle Carter (footballer)
Danielle Carter-Loblack (born 18 May 1993) is an English footballer who plays as a forward for FA WSL club Brighton & Hove Albion and the England national team. Club career Carter came through the ranks at the Leyton Orient Girls Centre of Excellence. In 2009, she moved to Arsenal, while remaining at school in Romford. In the 2010 FA Women's Cup Final, Carter was a 70th-minute substitute for Julie Fleeting, but Arsenal lost 3–2 to Everton after extra time. In 2011, Carter helped Arsenal win the inaugural FA WSL title, as well as the 2010–11 FA Women's Cup. In the 2011–12 UEFA Women's Champions League, she scored twice against Bobruichanka and once against Rayo Vallecano as Arsenal reached the semi-final, where they lost to 1. FFC Frankfurt. Julie Fleeting MBE (born 18 December 1980), whose married name is Julie Stewart, is a Scottish former footballer who played as a forward. She spent nine years at English club Arsenal and was the first Scot to play as a full-time professional in the WUSA playing for San Diego Spirit. She won the Scottish Women's League title with Ayr and seventeen major trophies with Arsenal. According to the Scottish Football Association, Fleeting has a record of 116 goals (a national record by some distance) and 121 caps for Scotland between her debut in 1996 and retirement in 2015, although those figures appear to include unofficial internationals. 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup
The 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup was the eighth edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup, the quadrennial international Women's association football championship contested by 24 women's national teams representing member associations of FIFA. Upset (competition)
An upset occurs in a competition, frequently in electoral politics or sports, when the party popularly expected to win (the "favorite"), either loses to or draws/ties a game with an underdog whom the majority expects to lose, defying the conventional wisdom. If it happens in a cup competition, it is sometimes referred to as a "cupset" (a portmanteau, combining the words "cup" and "upset"). Rayo Vallecano Femenino is the women's football section of Madrid-based club Rayo Vallecano, currently playing in the Primera Federación. Between 2008 and 2011 it won three national championships and one national cup. History Rayo Vallecano established its women's team in 2000, absorbing local club CD El Buen Retiro. 2011–12 UEFA Women's Champions League
The 2011−12 UEFA Women's Champions League was the eleventh edition of the European women's championship for football clubs. The final was held in the Olympiastadion in Munich, Germany on 17 May 2012. As in the past two Champions League seasons, the eight highest ranked nations got two entries to the tournament. The point of entry was changed this season however. In the previous years the national runners-up had to enter the qualification round. With those teams always easing through their groups, with the exception of Umeå in 2010–11, UEFA decided to give those a direct entry to the round of 32. As a result, eight nations which under previous rules would have had direct entry to that round now had to go through the qualifying stage.
