Daniela Velasco
Daniela Eugenia Velasco Maldonado (born August 24, 1995) is a Mexican Paralympic athlete who was part of the Mexican delegation at the 2016 Summer Paralympics. She was a bronze medalist in the 400 meters dash of the T12 category at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. She was close to being a medalist in the 1500 meters of Rio 2016 but was then disqualified. Personal life As a child she suffered the loss of an eye and rehabilitated at the National Institute for Rehabilitation of Blind and Visually Impaired Children of Mexico. Her start in athletics was motivated by Ana Gabriela Guevara, whom she watched competing in the 2004 Summer Olympics, so she looked for opportunities to practice adaptive sports in the Mexican Paralympic Center. She is a student of the National Preparatory School of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Her coach is Fabricio Chamor and her guide is Gabriel Urbina. T12 (classification)
B2 is a medical based Paralympic disability sport classification, classification for blindness, blind sport. Competitors in this classification have vision that falls between the B1 (classification), B1 and B3 (classification), B3 classes. The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) defines this classification as "visual acuity ranging from LogMAR chart, LogMAR 1.50 to 2.60 (inclusive) and/or visual field constricted to a diameter of less than 10 degrees." It is used by a number of blind sports including para-alpine skiing, para-Nordic skiing, blind cricket, blind golf, Paralympic association football#Football 5-a-side, five-a-side football, goalball and Paralympic judo, judo. Disabled Sports
Parasports are sports played by people with a disability, including physical and intellectual disabilities. Some parasports are forms of adapted physical activities from existing able-bodied sports, while others have been specifically created for persons with a disability and do not have an able-bodied equivalent.
