Daniela Polzin
Daniela Duque Estrada Polzin (born March 4, 1979 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian judoka who competed in the women's extra-lightweight category. She held a 2008 Brazilian senior title for her own division, picked up a total of seventeen medals in her career, including a silver from the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, and also represented Brazil in the 57-kg class at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Throughout most of her sporting career, Polzin also trained as a full-fledged member of Universidade Gama Filho's judo squad. Polzin qualified for the Brazilian squad in the women's extra-lightweight class (48 kg) at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by placing second from the Pan American Judo Championships in Margarita Island, Venezuela. Ippon
is the highest score a fighter can achieve in a Japanese martial arts ''ippon-wazari'' contest, usually kendo, judo, karate or jujitsu. In Judo In Judo, an ippon may be scored for a throw, a pin, a choke or a jointlock. For throws, the four criteria to grant an ippon are: speed, force, landing on the back and skilful control until the end of the landing. For pinning techniques, the pin must be held continually for 20 seconds. For chokes and locks, ippon is scored when the opponent gives up or is incapacitated. The Brazilian Olympic Committee or BOC ( pt, Comitê Olímpico do Brasil – COB) is the highest authority in Brazilian sport and the governing body of Brazilian Olympic sport. It was officially founded on June 8, 1914, but World War I caused its official activities to begin only in 1935. Universidade Gama Filho was a private university in Brazil that operated from 1939 to 2014. It was located in the neighborhood of Piedade, in the northern part of Rio de Janeiro. The university originated with the establishment of Colégio Piedade in 1939 by Luiz Gama Filho. The university was founded in 1951. From the 1970s, UGF sports teams gained prominence in state and national competitions. By the 1980s, the university had 30,000 students. The university was shut down in 2014, due to financial mismanagement. At the time it had the largest medica school in Brazil.
