Daniel Woge
Daniel Woge (1717-1797) was a German draughtsman and painter. Life He was born in Berlin and trained under Antoine Pesne before being summoned to Neustrelitz by Adolphus Frederick IV, Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Adolphus Frederick IV to be his court painter. He remained in the town until his death there. He mainly produced portraits of Adolphus Frederick and his family, though he did also produce altarpieces (such as that for the Nikolaikirche in Friedland) and produced drawings which others worked up for engravings. All the major museums in Mecklenburg have paintings by him in their collections - there are also some in the portrait collection at Gripsholm Castle in Sweden. In 1770 he was commissioned by Charles II, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Crown Prince Charles to paint a series in oils showing the Prillwitz idols. Antoine Pesne
Antoine Pesne () (29 May 1683 – 5 August 1757) was a French-born court painter of Prussia. Starting in the manner of baroque, he became one of the fathers of rococo in painting. His work represents a link between the French school and the Frederican rococo style. Early life Born in Paris, Pesne first studied art under his father and uncle. From 1704 to 1710 he received a stipend for advanced training at the Académie Royale in Italy. Career In 1710, Pesne was called to Berlin by King Frederick I in Prussia. The king had seen and liked a painting of a German nobleman Pesne had completed in Venice and wanted Pesne to complete a study of himself. Upon the death of the king in 1713, Pesne worked in the courts of Dresden and Dessau, and later visited London and Paris, where he was made a full member of the Académie Royale in 1720. Fredrik Axel Von Fersen
250px, Fredrik Axel von Fersen Count Fredrik Axel von Fersen (5 April 171924 April 1794) was a Swedish statesman and soldier. He served as Lord Marshal of the Riksdag of the Estates, and although he worked closely with King Gustav III before and through the Revolution of 1772, he later opposed the king. Biography A son of Lieutenant-General Hans Reinhold von Fersen, he entered the Swedish Life Guards in 1740, and from 1743 to 1748 was in the French service in the Royal-Suedois, where he rose to the rank of brigadier. In the Seven Years' War Fersen distinguished himself during the operations round Usedom and Wollin in 1759, when he inflicted serious loss on the Prussians. But it is as a politician that he is best known. Duchess Louise Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (19 November 1779 – 4 January 1801) was the maternal grandmother of Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. The Royal Collection of the British royal family is the largest private art collection in the world. Spread among 13 occupied and historic royal residences in the United Kingdom, the collection is owned by King Charles III and overseen by the Royal Collection Trust.
