Medellín ( or ), officially the Municipality of Medellín ( es, Municipio de Medellín), is the second-largest city in Colombia, after Bogotá, and the capital of the department of Antioquia. The 2019 Pan American Games ( es, Juegos Panamericanos de 2019, links=no), officially the XVIII Pan American Games and commonly known as the Lima 2019 Pan-Am Games or Lima 2019 ( qu, Limaq 2019), were a multi-sport event governed by the Panam Sports Organization, were held in Lima, Peru from July 26 to August 11, 2019, with preliminary rounds in certain events having begun on July 24, 2019. These were the first Pan American Games to be held in Peru, and the seventh to be held in South America. The Diving (sport), diving competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo featured eight events . It was one of four aquatic sports at the Games, along with Swimming at the 2020 Summer Olympics, swimming, Water polo at the 2020 Summer Olympics, water polo, and Artistic swimming at the 2020 Summer Olympics, synchronised swimming.
