Daniel H. Perlman (1934–1994) was the seventh president of Suffolk University Suffolk University is a private research university in Boston, Massachusetts. Perlman received two A.B. degrees, one from Shimer College in 1954 and one from the University of Chicago in 1955. He received his A.M. in 1956, and Ph.D. in 1971, both from the University of Chicago. From 1972 to 1980, Perlman worked at Roosevelt University in Chicago. In 1980, he became president of Suffolk University in Boston and served in that position until 1989. Shimer Great Books School (pronounced ) is a Classic_book#University_programs, Great Books college that is part of North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Prior to 2017, Shimer was an independent, accredited college on the south side of Chicago, with a history of being in different cities in Illinois prior to that. Founded in 1853 as the Mount Carroll Seminary in Mount Carroll, Illinois, the school became affiliated with the University of Chicago in 1896 and was renamed the Frances Shimer Academy after founder Frances Wood Shimer.
