Daniel Miller (anthropologist)
Daniel Miller (born in 1954) is an anthropologist who is closely associated with studies of human relationships to things, the consequences of consumption and digital anthropology. His theoretical work was first developed in ''Material Culture and Mass Consumption'' and is summarised more recently in his book ''Stuff''. This is concerned to transcend the usual dualism between subject and object and to study how social relations are created through consumption as an activity. Miller is also the founder of the digital anthropology programme at University College London (UCL), and the director the Why We Post and ASSA projects. He has pioneered the study of digital anthropology and especially ethnographic research on the use and consequences of social media and smartphones as part of the everyday life of ordinary people around the world. Daniel Clayton Miller (born July 1, 1991) was an American professional basketball player. Standing 6'11" (2.11 m), Miller played the center position. He played college basketball for Georgia Tech. College career A 6'11" center from Loganville Christian Academy in Loganville, Georgia, Miller came to Georgia Tech in 2010 after originally committing to the University of Georgia. Known for his defensive prowess, Miller earned Atlantic Coast Conference All-Defensive Team honors as a junior and senior, and led the conference in blocked shots both seasons. He was also named third-team All-ACC by the league's media in 2013–14. Daniel James Miller (born 12 June 1983) is an English cricketer. Miller is a left-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium-fast. He was born in Hammersmith, London and educated at Ewell Castle School and Kingston College. Miller made a single appearances for Surrey in 2002, in a List A match against Northamptonshire in the Norwich Union League. Later, while studying for his degree at Loughborough University, Miller made his first-class debut for Loughborough UCCE against Essex in 2006. Daniel Otto Joachim Miller (born 14 February 1951) is an English music producer and founder of Mute Records. Biography Miller is the son of two Austrian-Jewish refugees from Nazism, Martin Miller and Hannah Norbert-Miller, born into a family of actors. Miller studied film and television at the Guildford School of Art (now University for the Creative Arts) from 1969-1972, where he became interested in synthesizer music. Daniel Miller (1825–1888) was a 19th-century Scottish civil engineer and inventor remembered as a harbour and bridge-builder. Life He was born on 9 January 1825 the son of Isabella Paul and Stephen Miller, a coppersmith and brassfounder, living and working at 48 Saracens Lane in Glasgow. The premises was taken over by Walter Macfarlane in 1850 and became world famous as the Saracen Foundry. Daniel was apprenticed to Gordon & Hill and here he met Robert Bruce Bell (1823-1883) with whom he later went into partnership. In 1850 he was working without Hill at 13 Robertson Street as Daniel Miller & Co. Around 1855 he teamed with Robert Bruce Bell with offices at 32 St Vincent Street. By 1860 they are listed as Bell & Miller with Miller then living at 4 Bothwell Street. They were the official engineers to the Clyde Navigation Trust and the Glasgow Bridges Trust. The Wake are a British post-punk, synth-pop and later indie pop band, formed in Glasgow in 1981 by Gerard "Caesar" McInulty (formerly of Altered Images), Steven Allen (drums) and Joe Donnelly (bass), the latter replaced by Bobby Gillespie.
