Dan McCarthy (hurler)
Daniel McCarthy (born 1918) was an Irish hurler who played as a full-forward for the Cork senior team. McCarthy joined the team during the 1941 championship and was an unused substitute for that year's campaign. It was a successful year for Cork and McCarthy won an All-Ireland medal as a member of the extended panel. At club level McCarthy was a three-time county club championship runner-up with Ballincollig. Playing career Club McCarthy played his club hurling with Ballincollig and enjoyed much success. In 1939 McCarthy won an intermediate championship medal as Ballincollig defeated Ballinora by 4-6 to 4-4. McCarthy's side subsequently earned the unwanted distinction of losing three successive championship deciders to Glen Rovers and St. Finbarr's (twice) between 1941 and 1943. Daniel Patrick McCarthy (born April 7, 1958) is a Canadian coach and former professional ice hockey player. He played 5 games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers during the 1980–81 season. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1978 to 1986, was mainly spent in the minor leagues. Career McCarthy worked as the general manager of the Connecticut Wolves junior hockey team. He stepped down as head coach early in 2000–01 after leading the team to two MJHL semifinal appearances in the team's first two years of operation. Dan McCarthy (JAG)
Dan McCarthy is a captain in the United States Navy and one of around 730 lawyers who are members of the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United States Navy. He was educated at the Duke University School of Law. McCarthy has been involved with the military commissions at Guantanamo Bay detention camp where over 250 suspected Enemy combatants and terrorists are being held to await trial. He is chief prosecutor of the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United States Navy at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. McCarthy is also the one who introduced Ex parte Quirin to Lieutenant Commander Charles Swift which would become bases for the military tribunals at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. Daniel McCarthy (politician)
Daniel McCarthy (22 January 1883 – 2 March 1957) was an Irish politician. He was a member of the Irish Volunteers and took part in the 1916 Easter Rising at the South Dublin Union, where he was severely wounded. He was one of the first Sinn Féin members of Dublin Corporation. He was interned by the British government in September 1918 and sent to Durham Prison, from where he escaped. McCarthy was first elected unopposed to Dáil Éireann as a Sinn Féin Teachta Dála (TD) at the 1921 elections for the Dublin South constituency. He subsequently went on to support the Anglo-Irish Treaty, becoming a member of Cumann na nGaedheal when the party was founded. McCarthy joined the government of W. T. Cosgrave as Parliamentary Secretary to the President (Chief Whip) in 1922, being the first person to hold that post. He served in that post until 1924. Daniel McCarthy (c. 1926 – January 10, 2013) was a Canadian radio and television producer and the former head of children's programming at CBC Television (CBC). He worked at the CBC for thirty-three years, including a twelve-year tenure as the head of the CBC's children's programming department.
