Daniel Hurst (journalist)
Daniel James Hurst (2 October 1876 – 1961) was an English association football, footballer. Born in Workington, Cumberland (now Cumbria), his regular position was as an outside forward, outside left. He began his football career with local club Black Diamonds, but joined Lancashire side Blackburn Rovers F.C., Blackburn Rovers in 1897 at the age of 20, along with wing half, left half Peter Chambers (footballer), Peter Chambers. After three years with Blackburn, during which time he scored 17 goals in 53 league games and was selected for a Football League XI, Hurst returned to Cumberland in 1900 to join his hometown club, Workington A.F.C., Workington. A year later, he re-entered the Football League with Manchester City F.C., Manchester City, playing 15 times in his season there, before joining the newly renamed Manchester United F.C., Manchester United in 1902. Workington
Workington is a coastal town and civil parish at the mouth of the River Derwent on the west coast in the Allerdale borough of Cumbria, England. The town was historically in Cumberland. Peter Chambers (footballer)
Peter Chambers (1878–1952) was an English professional footballer in the years prior to the First World War. He made over 160 appearances in the Football League for Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City. He also played in the Southern League for both Bristol City and Swindon Town. Career Chambers was born in Workington in 1878 where he helped the local club Black Diamonds Carbonado, commonly known as black diamond, is one of the toughest forms of natural diamond.
