Daniel Hamilton (Canadian Politician)
Daniel Roy Hamilton (23 April 1892—September 4, 1965) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as a Liberal-Progressive from 1941 to 1953. Hamilton was first elected to the Manitoba legislature in the 1941 provincial election. A member of the governing Liberal-Progressive party, he defeated a pro-government independent named G.L. Van Vleit, 683 votes to 297, in the remote northern riding of Rupertsland. During this period, elections in Rupertsland were usually held at least two weeks after the rest of the province had voted because of difficulties in accessibility. Hamilton defeated another pro-government candidate in the 1945 provincial election, and won by acclamation in 1949. Sir Daniel Mackinnon Hamilton (6 December 1860 – 6 December 1939) was a Scottish businessman who made Bengal his second home. He established a ''zamindari'' in Gosaba, where he experimented with programmes of rural and social upliftment. He was a visionary and builder of rural reconstruction programmes at a time when the Indian national movement was gaining momentum, and gave importance to rural upliftment and self-help. Early life Hamilton was brought up in a business family on the Isle of Arran, off the West coast of Scotland. He was sent out to Bombay in 1880 to look after the branch of the mercantile firm Mackinnon-Mackenzie. He was married to Margaret Elizabeth Hamilton (later Lady). Daniel Domonique Hamilton (born August 8, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for Ionikos Nikaias of the Greek Basket League. He played college basketball for the Connecticut Huskies, and earned second-team all-conference honors in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) as a sophomore. After he decided to forgo his remaining two years of college eligibility, Hamilton was selected in the second round of the 2016 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets. His draft rights later were traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. High school career Hamilton attended Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles, California and then St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California.
