Daniel Edward Riley
Daniel Edward Riley (November 28, 1860 – April 27, 1948) was a Canadian politician, insurance agent, rancher and real estate agent from Alberta, Canada. Early life Daniel Edward Riley was born on November 28, 1860 in Baltic, Prince Edward Island to Neil Riley and Grace McEacheran. He was educated at Fanning Grammar School in Malpecque and Charlottetown Normal School. He would marry Edith Kate Thompson on April 2, 1890 and have five sons together. In 1882 he would move west, first to Winnipeg to work in the Canadian Pacific Railway shops, and later settling in High River, Alberta. He would become a ranch hand and manager for William Roper Hull and volunteered as a dispatch rider during the North-West Rebellion. Political life Riley would serve as the first Mayor of High River when the Village became a Town in 1906. George Henry Ross
George Henry Ross (June 13, 1878 – September 26, 1956) was a politician and barrister from Alberta, Canada. During his career, Ross served as a councillor on Calgary City Council, a Member of Parliament and senator. Early life George Henry Ross was born June 13, 1878 at Bedeque, Prince Edward Island to Murdock and Margaret Ross. He earned a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Michigan. He married May McDougall on January 24, 1911; they had three children together. Appointed King's Counsel in 1913, Ross served as a bencher of the Law Society of Alberta from 1919 to 1930. Sir James Alexander Lougheed, ( or ; 1 September 1854 – 2 November 1925) was a businessman, lawyer and politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a senator for 35 years, and held a number of Cabinet positions. Early life Lougheed was born in the village of Tullamore, in Chinguacousy Township, which is now part of Brampton, Ontario. Tullamore was home to many first-generation, Protestant, Irish-Canadians from the south part of county Sligo. George Douglas Stanley
George Douglas Stanley (March 19, 1876 – February 22, 1954) was a politician and physician from Alberta, Canada. He began as a pioneer medical doctor in Alberta in 1901. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1913 to 1921 as a member of the Conservative Party, and he served in the Canadian House of Commons from 1930 to 1935 sitting with the federal Conservatives. Provincial politics Stanley ran for a seat to the Alberta legislature in the 1909 general election. He lost by only eight votes to Liberal candidate Louis Roberts. That election result was the closest in the province that year. Stanley ran again in the 1913 general election. Roberts decided not to defend his seat, and Stanley won by only 58 votes to pick up the seat for the Conservatives. Stanley ran for a second term in the 1917 general election.
