Dan Coughlan (Blackrock Hurler)
Dan Coughlan (born 21 March 1870) was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Blackrock and was a member of the Cork senior inter-county team from 1894 until 1903. Biography The Coughlans were a well-known family in Blackrock at the turn of the 20th century. The father, John Coughlan, earned his livelihood as a fisherman. All of his sons would later earn their livings on the sea. The Coughlans also came to be regarded as a famous hurling family in the early years of the championship. Dan Coughlan was the fourth son in the family. He and his four brothers – Pat Coughlan, Denis 'Lyonsie' Coughlan, Jer Coughlan, and Tom 'Honest Man' Coughlan – all played with 'the Rockies' and claimed All-Ireland titles with Cork. The Coughlan bloodline saw much success also on the hurling field also. His nephews, Eudie and John, went on to win seven All-Ireland medals between them with Cork between 1929 and 1931. Dan Coughlan (St Finbarr's Hurler)
Dan Coughlan was an Irish hurler. His championship career at senior level with the Cork county team spanned four seasons from 1916 until 1919. Born in Cork, Coughlan first played competitive hurling with the St Finbarr's club. During a successful period for the club, he won four county championship medals. Coughlan made his debut with the Cork senior team during the 1916 championship and went on to become a regular member of the team at various times over the following few years. During this time he won his sole All-Ireland medal. Coughlan also won one Munster medal. Daniel Coghlan
Daniel Coghlan (January 1, 1812 – March 22, 1877) was an Irish-American industrialist and politician. He was a member of New Jersey General Assembly from 1868 - ? for the Morris County 1st District, then encompassing Chatham, Hanover, Morris and Passaic townships. In 1855, Coghlan purchased the Jefferson mill, near Monroe, and operated it until it burned down in 1861. He purchased the Eden papermill in Whippany, New Jersey in 1861.
