Daniel C. Oliver
Daniel Charles Oliver (October 6, 1865 – March 26, 1924) was an American businessman and politician who served one term in the New York State Assembly from 1917 and 1919. Life Born in New York City, Oliver attended public schools and graduated from the College of the City of New York. He served twenty years as a member of the school board. He was an importer of dry goods and also served as member of the Commercial Travelers' Association. Political career He was a member of the New York State Assembly (New York Co., 23rd D.) in 1915 and 1916. Congress Oliver was elected as a Democrat to the 65th United States Congress, holding office from March 4, 1917, to March 3, 1919. He resumed his former business pursuits in New York City. Death He died from pneumonia at his home there on March 26, 1924. The Wake are a British post-punk, synth-pop and later indie pop band, formed in Glasgow in 1981 by Gerard "Caesar" McInulty (formerly of Altered Images), Steven Allen (drums) and Joe Donnelly (bass), the latter replaced by Bobby Gillespie. Steven's sister Carolyn Allen also joined on keyboards, and remained in the band thereafter. Gillespie left the band in 1983, replaced by Martin Cunning and then by Alexander 'Mac' Macpherson. History The Wake released their first single on their own Scan 45 label, coupling together "On Our Honeymoon" and "Give Up". Woodside, Queens
Woodside is a residential and commercial neighborhood in the western portion of the borough of Queens in New York City. It is bordered on the south by Maspeth, on the north by Astoria, on the west by Sunnyside, and on the east by Elmhurst, Jackson Heights, and East Elmhurst. Some areas are widely residential and very quiet, while other parts, especially the ones around Roosevelt Avenue, are busier. In the 19th century the area was part of the Town of Newtown (now Elmhurst). The adjacent area of Winfield was largely incorporated into the post office serving Woodside and as a consequence Winfield lost much of its identity distinct from Woodside. William Stiles Bennet (November 9, 1870 – December 1, 1962) was an American politician and a U.S. Representative from New York, and father of Augustus Witschief Bennet. Biography Born in Port Jervis, New York, Bennet was the son of James and Alice Leonora (Stiles) Bennet and attended the common schools. He graduated from Port Jervis Academy, Port Jervis, New York, in 1889; and from Albany Law School, Albany, New York, in 1892. He married Gertrude Witschief, on June 30, 1896. Calvary Cemetery is a Roman Catholic cemetery in Maspeth and Woodside, Queens, in New York City, New York, United States. With about three million burials, it has the largest number of interments of any cemetery in the United States.
