Background This will be the 24th appearance of the men's featherweight event. The event appeared at the first Olympic boxing tournament in 1904 and was held at every Games with boxing (that is, excluding 1912) until 2008. In 2012 and 2016, there was no featherweight class; the classes went directly from bantamweight to lightweight. For 2020, the featherweight returns and bantamweight is eliminated.
