Danger! Men At Work
''Danger - Men at Work!'' was a British radio comedy programme, broadcast by the BBC over seven series between 1939 and 1947. The show was written and produced, at first, by Max Kester and Anthony Hall, with later series by Kester alone. It was the first British radio comedy in the "crazy" style of the Marx Brothers, and centred on the attempts of wealthy widowed hotel owner Mrs Ponsonby (played by Doris Nichols) to have work done by men who would invariably try to trick her out of her money. The workmen were played in the first series by American double act Van and Allen; in the second series by Jack Train and George Moon; and in later series by Haver and Lee (Clay Keyes and Frank Tully), as the characters Eggblow and Duckweed. Comedy is a genre of fiction that consists of discourses or works intended to be humorous or amusing by inducing laughter, especially in theatre, film, stand-up comedy, television, radio, books, or any other entertainment medium. Jacques Brown
Jacques Brown (first name pronounced "Jakes") (23 August 1900 – 3 April 1975) was a British radio producer. He produced ''Much-Binding-in-the-Marsh'', ''The Goon Show'', ''Beyond Our Ken'' and others for BBC Radio. He was born Solomon Jacob Brown in Toxteth Park, Liverpool. A trumpet player in his youth, he had many stories to tell of being a jobbing musician in London in the 1920s. He performed in a number of minor acting roles before becoming a producer. After retiring from the BBC to nurse his wife, who was seriously ill with cancer from which she later died, he helped his brother-in-law with his cake decorating business until his death, and the business folded after the postal workers strike of 1971. Clay Keyes
Clay is a type of fine-grained natural soil material containing clay minerals (hydrous aluminium phyllosilicates, e.g. kaolin, Al2 Si2 O5( OH)4). Clays develop plasticity when wet, due to a molecular film of water surrounding the clay particles, but become hard, brittle and non–plastic upon drying or firing. Haver and Lee were a British comedy duo who were active between the late 1920s and early 1940s. Haver was Clay Keyes (born Henry James Newbold; 9 December 1892 – 19 June 1970). Lee was Frank Tully (born Frank Mendoza Jr.; 14 December 1888 – 19 January 1962). Marx Brothers
The Marx Brothers were an American family comedy act that was successful in vaudeville, on Broadway, and in motion pictures from 1905 to 1949. Jack Train (28 November 1902 – 19 December 1966) was a British comic actor best known for his appearances as a variety of eccentric characters in the BBC radio series ''It's That Man Again'' (''ITMA''). George Moon
George Moon (19 March 1909 – 17 December 1981) was an English Theatre, stage, film actor, film and television actor. During the late 1950s he appeared as Ginger Smart in the television series ''Shadow Squad'' and its sequel ''Skyport''. Moon's largest television role came in 1977 when he played Tipping the butler in the short lived television series Lord Tramp alongside Hugh Lloyd and Joan Sims. His daughter is the actress Georgina Moon.
