Harry Danford (born ) is a Canadian former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1995 to 1999. Background Danford worked as a farmer before entering politics, and was a member of the Hastings County Milk and Holstein Clubs. Politics He was a member of the Rawdon council from 1982 to 1984 and served as Reeve and Warden of Hastings County from 1982 to 1994. In the 1995 provincial election, Danford defeated incumbent NDP candidate Elmer Buchanan by 7,859 votes in the riding of Hastings—Peterborough. He was a backbench supporter of Mike Harris's government for the next four years, and served as parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Agriculture and Food for this entire period. Lorenzo Dow Danford (October 18, 1829 – June 19, 1899) was an American lawyer and politician who served five terms as a U.S. Representative from Ohio from 1873 to 1879 and again from 1895 to 1899. Biography Born in Washington Township, Belmont County, Ohio, Danford attended the common schools and a college at Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, for two years. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar at St. Clairsville, Belmont County, Ohio, in September 1854, and commenced practice there. He served as presidential elector on the American Party ticket in 1856. He served as prosecuting attorney of Belmont County from 1857 to 1861, when he resigned to enlist in the Fifteenth Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, as a private. Arnold Danford Patrick Heeney, (April 5, 1902 – December 20, 1970) was a Canadian lawyer, diplomat and civil servant. He was born in Montreal, Quebec. He was educated at St. John's College, Winnipeg and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1921 and a Master of Arts degree in 1923 both from the University of Manitoba. As the Manitoba Rhodes Scholar he went on to St. John's College, Oxford before returning to Canada, earning a Bachelor of Civil Law degree at McGill University. Specializing in Maritime law, in 1929 he joined the Montreal law firm of Meredith, Holden, Heward & Holden. In one of his last cases with the firm, he successfully represented F. R. Danford Balch (November 29, 1811 – October 17, 1859) (alternate spelling ''Danforth'') was a mid-19th-century settler in what later became the Willamette Heights neighborhood of Portland in the U.S. state of Oregon. He was born on November 29, 1811, in Colrain, Massachusetts, but spent his early years in Onondaga County, New York. In 1850, Balch moved west to Portland, and settled on a donation land claim of about with his wife, Mary Jane, and nine children. A commemorative stone at Northwest 30th Avenue and Upshur Street marks the spot of the Balch homesite. A family named Stump, with whom the Balches quarreled, settled a nearby claim. Nine years later, Balch was convicted of murdering Mortimer Stump, who had eloped with and married Balch's oldest child, Anna, against her father's wishes.
