Cesare Dandini
Cesare Dandini (1 October 1596– 7 February 1657) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in his native city of Florence. Biography He was the older brother of the painter Vincenzo Dandini (1609–1675). His nephew, Pietro was a pupil of Vincenzo, and Pietro's two sons, Ottaviano Dandini and the Jesuit priest Vincenzo also worked as painters in Florence. According to the biographer Baldinucci, Cesare first worked under Francesco Curradi, then Cristofano Allori, and finally Domenico Passignano. He enrolled in 1621 in the Accademia del Disegno. His style has the polish and attention to draughtsmanship and design characteristic of Florentines like Carlo Dolci. Girolamo Dandini (1509–1559)
Girolamo Dandini (1509 – 4 December 1559) was an Italian cardinal and the first to serve as Cardinal Secretary of State in the Roman Curia. By the time of Pope Innocent X (1644–1655), the secretary of state was always a cardinal, and Pope Innocent XII (1691–1700) abolished the office of cardinal nephew in 1692. Biography Dandini was born in Cesena on 25 March 1509 to a patrician family, the son of Anselmo Dandini and Giovanna Muratini. He graduated from the University of Bologna with a degree '' utroque iuris'' in both canon and civil law. He went to Rome and became secretary to Pope Paul III, who appointed him Protonotary apostolic. He was sent as nuncio to the court of François I to negotiate peace and to agree on the celebration of a general council, June 1543 to May 1544. Girolamo Dandini ( la, Hieronymus Dandinus; 1554–1634) was an Italian Jesuit and academic. Life He was born in Cesena. With Juan Maldonado he was the first Jesuit professor in Paris, at the Collège de Clermont; there he taught François de Sales. Later he was professor of theology at Perugia. He was sent in 1596 by Pope Clement VIII as nuncio to Lebanon, to preside at a general Maronite council, for the purpose of introducing certain liturgical reforms. It was held at the Qannubin Monastery. On the way Dandini visited Cyprus; he was accompanied by Fabio Bruno, who had been on an earlier mission in 1580 with Giovanni Battista Eliano. Vincenzo Dandini
Vincenzo Dandini (1607–1675) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Florence. He was a pupil of his brother, Cesare Dandini in Florence, then he moved to Rome and worked in the studio of Pietro da Cortona. Among his pupils were Giovanni Battista Marmi and Antonio Domenico Gabbiani. His nephew Pietro and his two children, Ottaviano and Vincezo the younger, also worked as painters in his studio. Dandini is a character in the opera ''La Cenerentola'' by Rossini and also in the ''Cinderella'' pantomime. He is the male servant of the Prince (the principal male character: Don Ramiro in the opera, commonly Prince Charming in the pantomime). Dandini helps the Prince to meet the principal female character (known as Angelina or Cinderella) without her knowing that he is a prince.
