Dance Gang
Dance Gang is an American performance art duo made up of Will Rawls and Kennis Hawkins started in 2006 in New York City. About The two, both over six feet tall, met in 2004 as fellow dancers in Shen Wei Dance Arts and then started their own project. Dance Gang began with playful dance interventions in public spaces and then continued into short and full-length site-specific choreographed works. Will Rawls
Will Rawls is an American contemporary choreographer, performance artist, curator and writer based in New York City and with continuing projects in Europe. He has choreographed solo works and group works as well as danced professionally with established dance companies. He is also one half of the performance art collaborative, Dance Gang, with Kennis Hawkins. In 2017, Rawls collaborated with poet and writer Claudia Rankine on ''What Remains''. Rawls and Rankine began to generate ''What Remains'' together after being recommended as collaborators by a mutual friend. Rawls entered the studio with two of Rankine's works – 2004's ''Don't Let Me Be Lonely'' and 2014's ''Citizen.'' Ryan Gander
Ryan Gander OBE Royal Academician, RA (born 1976) is a British artist. Gander is a wheelchair user who does not identify as being disabled. He explains: "I don't even feel disabled. I've spent my whole life trying not to be disabled, so I don't want to be labelled a "disabled artist." Since 2003, Gander has produced a body of artworks in different forms, ranging from sculpture, apparel, writing, architecture, painting, typefaces, publications, and performance. Additionally, Gander curates exhibitions, has worked as an educator at art institutions and universities, and has written and presented television programmes on and about contemporary art and culture for the BBC. Joe's Pub, one of the six performance spaces within The Public Theater, is a music venue and restaurant that hosts live performances across genres and arts, ranging from cabaret to modern dance to world music. It is located at 425 Lafayette Street near Astor Place in Manhattan, New York City. It is named after Joseph Papp, the theatrical producer who established the New York Shakespeare Festival, The Public Theater and the free Shakespeare in the Park program in Central Park. Neal Medlyn (born Jerry Neal Medlin on May 21, 1975, in Palestine, Texas) is a New York City-based performance artist and musician. His works include Champagne Jerry, his reenactment of a Beyonce concert DVD, his Pop Star Series of performance pieces, and his work in the variety show, ''Our Hit Parade''. Documenta
''documenta'' is an exhibition of contemporary art which takes place every five years in Kassel, Germany. The ''documenta'' was founded by artist, teacher and curator Arnold Bode in 1955 as part of the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Horticultural Show) which took place in Kassel at that time. It was an attempt to bring Germany up to speed with modern art, both banishing and repressing the cultural darkness of Nazism. This first ''documenta'' featured many artists who are generally considered to have had a significant influence on modern art (such as Picasso and Kandinsky). The more recent editions of the event feature artists based across the world, but much of the art is site-specific. Cevdet Erek (born 1974) is a Turkish artist and musician. Cevdet Erek was the recipient of the Nam Jun Paik Award in 2012. Education Erek studied architecture at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts, while working at various architectural practices as well as in the music band Nekropsi.
