Dan Whitesides
Daniel Whitesides (born July 7, 1977) is the drummer for American rock band The Used. He replaced former drummer and founder of the band Branden Steineckert who left the band in the summer of 2006. Whitesides had previously played with The New Transit Direction for about seven years. Early life and career Whitesides began playing drums when he was 14. "I play a little guitar, but that’s just because my whole family plays guitar, and I picked it up from being around them. didn’t play itin any bands or anything like that though. Mainly just drums." Whitesides was involved with school music briefly. "I took snare drum lessons in seventh grade. I learned how to hold my sticks, learned stick technique. I still do the same warm-ups that the teacher had us do. I still do those to this day. It helped me out and really opened the door to new ideas." The Used
The Used is an American rock band from Orem, Utah, that formed in 2001. The group consists of vocalist Bert McCracken, bassist Jeph Howard, drummer Dan Whitesides, and guitarist Joey Bradford. Former members include Quinn Allman, Branden Steineckert, and Justin Shekoski. The group signed to Reprise Records and rose to fame in June 2002 after releasing their self-titled debut album. They followed up with their second album, '' In Love and Death'', in September 2004 and their third album, ''Lies for the Liars'', in May 2007. ''Shallow Believer'', an EP that featured most of the band's B-sides, was released in February 2008. Their fourth studio album, '' Artwork'', was released in August 2009. ''Artwork'' is the fourth studio album by American Rock music, rock band the Used, released through Reprise Records, Reprise in the United States and the UK on August 31, 2009. ''The Canyon'' is the seventh studio album by American rock band the Used. The album was released as double album on October 27, 2017, through Hopeless Records and is dedicated to Tregen, a friend of Bert McCracken, who shot himself in Provo Canyon after coming off his anti-depressants for about a week. It is the only studio album to feature guitarist Justin Shekoski since Quinn Allman's departure in 2015. It was highly acclaimed by critics and fans alike and appearing on many best-of-the-year lists, though it only peaked at 50 on the Billboard 200. ''Imaginary Enemy'' is the sixth studio album by American rock band the Used. It is the first album released on, and the second label the band created and own, GAS Union. Imaginary Enemy is the final album to feature guitarist Quinn Allman before he parted from the band in November 2015. Recording The album was produced by John Feldmann, who also produced all of the band's studio albums with the exception of Artwork. In an interview with Jeph, he stated that they recorded the album "backwards" by having the vocals recorded first and then having the music written to the vocals.
