Dan Robison
Dan Robison ( 1945 – 2014) was an American professional poker player and gin rummy player originally from Dayton, Ohio. Robison attended Fairmont High School in the Dayton suburb of Kettering, graduating in 1963. He lettered in basketball and golf. The golf team won state championships in 1961 and 1963 along with a runner-up finish in 1962. In 1973 he came to Las Vegas as the partner of Chip Reese. After Robison and Reese won a substantial amount of money from poker in a short period of time they became known as the Golddust Twins. After becoming addicted to cocaine, Robison went to rehab and later became a born again Christian. He was considered one of the best cash game seven-card stud players in the world. Poker is a family of comparing card games in which players wager over which hand is best according to that specific game's rules. It is played worldwide, however in some places the rules may vary. Seven-card Stud
Seven-card stud, also known as Seven-Toed Pete or Down-The-River is a variant of stud poker. Before the 2000s surge of popularity of Texas hold 'em, seven-card stud was the most widely played poker variant in home games across the United States, and in casinos in the eastern part of the country. Although seven-card stud isn't as common in casinos today, it is still played online. The game is commonly played with two to eight players, though eight may require special rules for the last cards dealt if no players fold. With experienced players who fold often, playing with nine players is possible. In casino play, it is common to use a small ante and bring-in. In home games, it is typical to use an ante only. The Hendon Mob
The Hendon Mob are a group of four professional poker players from London, England: Joe Beevers, Barny Boatman, Ross Boatman, and Ram Vaswani. The name of the group was first publicised by the ''Evening Standard'' newspaper in September 2000. Joe Beevers is the only member of the group who actually comes from Hendon, but the others played in Hendon. The Mob first became recognised for their appearances on the televised poker programme ''Late Night Poker'' (1999–2002). The Hendon Mob also regularly attends the annual World Series of Poker and other major tournaments. They have dozens of in the money results between them. The Mob were used in series one of the British con-art documentary series 'The Real Hustle'. Presenters R. Stud poker is any of a number of poker variants in which each player receives a mix of face-down and face-up cards dealt in multiple betting rounds. Stud games are also typically '' non-positional'' games, meaning that the player who bets first on each round may change from round to round (it is usually the player whose face-up cards make the best hand for the game being played). The cards dealt face down to each individual player are called hole cards, which gave rise to the common English expression ''ace in the hole'' for any hidden advantage. The World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet is considered the most coveted non-monetary prize a poker player can win. Since 1976, a bracelet has been awarded to the winner of every event at the annual WSOP. Even if the victory occurred before 1976, WSOP championships are now counted as "bracelets". During the first years of the WSOP only a handful of bracelets were awarded each year. In 1990, there were only 14 bracelet events. By 2000, that number increased to 24. As the popularity of poker has increased during the 2000s, the number of events has likewise increased.
