Dan Potocianu
Dan Ion Potocianu (born 5 March 1974) is a Romanian former footballer who played as a defender during the 1990s and early 2000s. Career Potocianu started playing professionally in 1990 with his home-town team FCM Reșița. In 1993, he earned a move to FC Progresul București where he went on to make over 100 appearances before leaving for Switzerland's Servette FC in 1997. While at Servette, he had a loan spell. Potocianu joined FC Basel's first team on loan during the second half of their 1998–99 season under head coach Guy Mathez. Potocianu played his domestic league debut for the club in the away game in the Charmilles Stadium on 13 March 1999 as Basel were defeated 1–2 by Servette. During his short loan period with the club, Potocianu played a total of 12 games for Basel without scoring a goal. 10 of these games were in the Nationalliga A and two were friendly games. Reșița
Reșița (; german: link=no, Reschitz; hu, Resicabánya; hr, Ričica; cz, Rešice; sr, Решица/Rešica; tr, Reşçe) is a city in western Romania and the capital of Caraș-Severin County. It is located in the Banat region. The city had a population of 73,282 in 2011. Etymology The name of ''Reșița'' might come from the Latin ''recitia'', meaning "cold spring", as the historian Nicolae Iorga once suggested, presuming that the Romans gave this name to Resita, from a water spring on the Doman valley. A much more plausibile version, according to Iorgu Iordan, would be that the name is actually coming from a Slavic word: people living in the neighbouring village of Carașova 15 km away, referring to this place, that in those days was a similar village to theirs, as being "u rečice" (at the creek). The 1996–97 Cupa României was the 59th edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The title was won by Steaua București against Naţional București. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament. First round proper matches are played on the ground of the lowest ranked team, then from the second round proper the matches are played on a neutral location. If a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes into extra time. If the match is still tied, the result is decided by penalty kicks. Romanian League
The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. The Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 campaign, being currently on the 29th place in UEFA's league coefficient ranking list. It is administered by the Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal, also known by the acronym LPF. The 1991–92 Divizia B was the 52nd season of the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The format has been maintained to three series, each of them having 18 teams.
