Dan McMichael
Dan McMichael (c. 1860 – 6 February 1919) was an Irish manager, treasurer, secretary and physiotherapist of the Scottish football club Hibernian during the late 19th century and early 20th century. He was also a sprinter in his youthMackay, pp98. and a referee in Lanarkshire. He is the only manager to have taken charge of Hibs in two separate spells, being the first manager of the club from 1900 to 1903 and returning in 1904 after Phil Kelso left for Arsenal. He subsequently held this position for fifteen years, also making him the club's longest serving manager to date. He was a saw-miller by trade and settled in Coatbridge in the 1880s before moving to Edinburgh sometime between 1895 and 1898. His brother-in-law, James "Judge" Murphy, was with Hibernian from 1893 to 1903 and seems likely to have started McMichael's connection with Hibs. This is a list of Scottish Cup winning football managers. The Scottish Cup was first competed for in the 1873–74 season. Football in Scotland did not become a professional sport until the 1890s. This meant that clubs in this early period were generally organised by a management committee, or a board of directors if the club had been incorporated. The position of team manager was not introduced in Scottish football until the 1890s, or even later in some instances. Willie Maley, with Celtic in 1899, was the first team manager to win the competition. This list gives details of the winning club and their manager in each season since then. The 1901–02 Scottish Cup was the 29th season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. The Cup was won by Hibernian, who defeated Celtic 1–0 in the Final. This gave Hibs their second Scottish Cup, a tally they would not add to until 2016. The Final was due to be played at Ibrox on 12 April, but the first Ibrox disaster happened a week earlier during the annual Scotland v England fixture.
