Dan Edward Garvey
Dan Edward Garvey (June 19, 1886 – February 5, 1974) was an American businessman, politician and the ninth secretary of state of Arizona from 1942 to 1948 under Sidney Preston Osborn and the eighth governor of Arizona from 1948 to 1951. He was the first of many people to ascend to the office of Governor from the Secretaryship. Early career Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Garvey graduated from St. Aloysius High School and worked for the Illinois Central Railroad. In 1909, he moved to the Arizona Territory to work as a railroad accountant for Randolph Railroad Co., a company later absorbed by the Southern Pacific Railroad. Later, he entered the automobile business, but it failed during the Great Depression. Political career Garvey was hired by the Pima County treasurer's office in 1931. Sidney Preston Osborn
Sidney Preston Osborn (May 17, 1884 – May 25, 1948) was an American politician who was the first secretary of state of Arizona, and later the seventh governor of Arizona and is, as of , the only governor of Arizona to be elected to four consecutive terms (Governors of Arizona served 2-year terms without limits until 1968, when it was changed to serve 4-year terms, and again in 1992 to a limit of two terms at a time). Osborn is also the second native-born governor of Arizona, preceded by Thomas Edward Campbell. Ana Frohmiller
Anastasia Collins Frohmiller (July 28, 1891 – November 25, 1971), known as Ana, was a leading female politician in Arizona from the 1930s through the 1950s. A native of Burlington, Vermont, she moved with her parents and eight siblings to Phoenix, Arizona in 1898. In 1920 she was elected deputy county treasurer of Coconino County; she later became county treasurer. She became the first woman to serve as State Auditor, to which she was elected in 1926. Frohmiller served until 1950 when she ran an unsuccessful campaign for Governor against Howard Pyle. The 1948 Arizona gubernatorial election took place on November 2, 1948. Following the death of Governor Sidney Preston Osborn while in office, Dan Edward Garvey, who was serving as Secretary of State of Arizona was ascended to the position of governor, and thus ran for a full term. Facing a crowded primary field, Garvey emerged successful as the Democratic party's nominee. Dan Edward Garvey was challenged by Republican Bruce Brockett in the general election, who had run in 1946 against Osborn, and had previously signaled a shift in voters becoming more Republican, outperforming their past electoral failures significantly. Cave Creek is a town in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the town was 4,892. History Cave Creek was settled in 1870 by soldiers on horseback from Fort McDowell. In 1873, prospectors from the Bradshaw Mountains found gold in the town.
