The Dampfbahn-Verein Zürcher Oberland (DVZO) is a heritage railway association based in the Swiss canton of Zurich. The association preserves various items of rolling stock, utilising the historic ''lok remise'' or engine shed at Uster station, and also operates the preserved railway between Hinwil and Bauma stations over a section of the former Uerikon to Bauma railway (UeBB). Uster Railway Station
Uster is a railway station in Switzerland, situated in the city of Uster. The station is located on the Wallisellen to Uster and Rapperswil railway line. History Between 1909 and 1949, Uster station was also the terminus of the Uster-Oetwil-Bahn (UOeB), a metre gauge electric tramway that linked Uster with Esslingen and Oetwil in the Zürcher Oberland. An unusual feature of Uster railway station is the historic ''lok remise'' or engine shed. This comprises two separate buildings, a simple shed from 1856 and a partial roundhouse from 1857, arranged around a turntable. The roundhouse is flanked by houses on either side. The whole ensemble has been designated as a historical monument since 1985, and has been restored to its original condition. Hinwil railway station (german: Bahnhof Hinwil) is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Zurich and municipality of Hinwil. The station is situated at the junction of the Effretikon to Hinwil via Wetzikon railway line, which is still in full use, and the Uerikon to Bauma railway (UeBB), which is partly closed and partly used as a heritage railway. Hinwil station is the terminus of Zurich S-Bahn route S14, which operates from Zurich via Uster and Wetzikon. The Uerikon–Bauma railway (german: Uerikon-Bauma-Bahn, UeBB) is a railway which formerly linked Uerikon, Hombrechtikon, Bubikon, Hinwil, Bäretswil and Bauma in the Swiss canton of Zurich. The line from Uerikon to Hinwil was closed in 1948, and little now remains other than a freight siding in the Bubikon area. From Hinwil to Bauma the line has been preserved by the Dampfbahn-Verein Zürcher Oberland (DVZO) and sees heritage railway services. History The Uerikon to Bauma railway opened in 1901 and was the brain child of Adolf Guyer-Zeller, who would become famous as the builder of the Jungfrau Railway.
