Damien Whitehead
Damien Whitehead (born 24 April 1979) is an English former professional footballer who played in The Football League for Macclesfield Town. Career Whitehead started his career at non-league Warrington Town where his impressive goal scoring attracted the attentions of Macclesfield Town who signed him for a small fee. After scoring 14 goals in 57 appearances (20 starts, 37 sub) for the ''Silkmen'' he left and played semi-pro football in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. He signed for Drogheda United initially on a one-month deal in January 2002. He made his League of Ireland debut on 7 January at Whitehall Stadium. After spells at Drogheda and Finn Harps in the south, he went on to play for Omagh Town, Newry and Coleraine in the north. Whiston, Merseyside
Whiston is a town and civil parish within the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley in Merseyside, England. Previously recorded within the historic county of Lancashire, it is located east of Liverpool. The population was 13,629 at the 2001 Census, increasing to 14,263 at the 2011 Census. A new village, Halsnead Garden Village, was approved with government support in 2017 and will be located in the Halsnead area of the town. The new village will contain over 1,500 houses, a primary school, a country park, and various community and leisure facilities. Construction is estimated to cost around £270 million. The League of Ireland ( ga, Sraith na hÉireann), together with the Football Association of Ireland, is one of the two main governing bodies responsible for organising association football in the Republic of Ireland. The term was originally used to refer to a single division league. However today the League of Ireland features five divisions – the Premier Division, the First Division, U19 Division, U17 Division, U15 Division and starting U13 Division. The League of Ireland has always worked closely with the FAI and in 2006 the two bodies formally merged. The League of Ireland First Division ( ga, Céad Roinn Sraith na hÉireann), also known as the SSE Airtricity League First Division, is the second level division in both the League of Ireland and the Republic of Ireland football league system. The division was formed in 1985. It replaced the League of Ireland B Division as the League of Ireland's second level division. Since 2003 the First Division has operated as a summer league.
