Damiano Caruso
Damiano Caruso (born 12 October 1987) is an Italian professional road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Caruso was also the 2008 under-23 Italian national champion for the road race. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in the road race. Career Born in Ragusa, Sicily, Caruso has competed as a professional since the second half of the 2009 season, competing for the , and teams, before joining for the 2011 season. In October 2011, the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) requested for Caruso to be suspended from competition for two years, although backdated from December 2010, in relation to a doping offence in 2007. He was given a backdated one-year ban in February 2012, allowing for him to return to competition without being banned, but all his 2011 results were voided. Cycling At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's Individual Road Race
The men's individual road race event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place on 24 July 2021 on a course starting at Musashinonomori Park in Tokyo, and ending at the Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture. 128 cyclists from 57 nations competed, with 85 completing the course. The race was won by Richard Carapaz of Ecuador. Carapaz, along with Brandon McNulty of the United States, attacked with to go and immediately built a gap over the chasing group. Both riders worked together until Carapaz dropped McNulty with to go. Carapaz held off the chase group to win the race by more than a minute. The silver and bronze medals went to Wout van Aert of Belgium and Tadej Pogačar of Slovenia, respectively. Both riders were part of the 11-man chase group that rode in pursuit of Carapaz and McNulty. The 2019 Giro d'Italia was a three-week Grand Tour cycling stage race organised by RCS Sport that took place mainly in Italy, between 11 May and 2 June 2019. The race was the 102nd edition of the Giro d'Italia and was the first Grand Tour of the 2019 cycling season. In road bicycle racing, a domestique is a rider who works for the benefit of their team and leader, rather than trying to win the race. In French, ''domestique'' translates as "servant".However, in French, the term used is ''équipier''. In Italy and Spain, the term used is ''gregario'' (meaning "soldier of the Roman legions" or "one of the group", seetymology. The 2015 Giro d'Italia () was a three-week Grand Tour cycling stage race that took place in May 2015. It was the 98th running of the Giro d'Italia and took place principally in Italy, although some stages visited France and Switzerland. The race included 21 stages, beginning in San Lorenzo al Mare on 9 May and concluding in Milan on 31 May. It was the fifteenth race of the 2015 UCI World Tour. The 2014 Vuelta a España took place between 23 August and 14 September 2014 and was the 69th edition of the race. It featured eight mountain stages, five hill stages, five flat stages, and three time trials (one team and two individual), two of which appeared at the beginning and end of the race. Jerez de la Frontera, on the Spanish south coast, hosted the opening stage. The Vuelta then went counterclockwise, through the south-east and east of the country before crossing the north and finishing in Santiago de Compostela. The 2012 edition began with an individual time trial stage – where each member of the starting peloton of 198 riders competed against the clock – in Herning, Denmark with two more stages held in the country before an early rest day. The riders then travelled by air to Italy, with the race resuming in Verona and a team time trial, an event where each member of a team started together racing against the clock. Peter Stetina (born August 8, 1987) is an American off-road cyclist, who competes in gravel and endurance mountain bike racing as a privateer. Prior to this, he competed as a road racing cyclist between 2010 and 2019 for the , and teams. Career Born in Boulder, Colorado, Stetina currently resides in California. Stetina's father Dale, and uncle Wayne are former road racing cyclists. Following an eight-year stint with , Stetina signed with for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. The 2012 Giro d'Italia was the 95th edition of Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's Grand Tours. It started in the Danish city of Herning, and ended in Milan. The complete route of the 2012 Giro d'Italia was announced in mid October. For the first time since the 2007 edition no climbing time trial was included in the route. The colour of the jersey for the mountains classification was changed for this year's edition from green to blue.
