Damian Iorio
Damian Iorio (born 1972) is a British-Italian conductor. Early life and education Born in London, Iorio is the son of violinist Diana Cummings and viola player Luciano Iorio. Iorio's uncle is Douglas Cummings, the former principal cello of the London Symphony Orchestra. He began violin studies as a young child with Sheila Nelson. While an undergraduate violin student of Yossi Zivoni at the Royal Northern College of Music, Iorio began conducting studies and participated in conducting masterclasses with Ilya Musin. He completed violin studies at Indiana University, USA with Franco Gulli. Iorio went on to study conducting at Saint Petersburg Conservatory with Ilya Musin and Alexander Polishchuk. At the same time, he held a position in the first violin section of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. Glyndebourne Festival Opera is an annual opera festival held at Glyndebourne, an English country house near Lewes, in East Sussex, England. National Youth String Orchestra
The National Youth Strings Orchestra (NYSO) was founded by Viviane Ronchetti in 1995 and is a specialist string chamber youth orchestra based in the United Kingdom. Initially founded as the National ISIS Strings Academy (NISA), in 2005 the orchestra was renamed the National Youth Strings Academy and became a company limited by guarantee Charity no. 1110462. Its name was changed again in 2013 to National Youth String Orchestra to clarify its classification as an orchestra. NYSO's Music Director is Damian Iorio. The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (BBC SSO) is a Scottish broadcasting symphony orchestra based in Glasgow. The BBC Symphony Orchestra (BBC SO) is a British orchestra based in London. Founded in 1930, it was the first permanent salaried orchestra in London, and is the only one of the city's five major symphony orchestras not to be self-governing. Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is a British symphony orchestra based in London, that performs and produces primarily classic works. The RPO was established by Thomas Beecham in 1946. In its early days, the orchestra secured profitable recording contracts and important engagements including the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and the concerts of the Royal Philharmonic Society. After Beecham's death in 1961, the RPO's fortunes declined steeply. The RPO battled for survival until the mid-1960s, when its future was secured after a report by the Arts Council of Great Britain recommended that it should receive public subsidy. The Radio Filharmonisch Orkest (''Radio Philharmonic Orchestra''; Dutch abbreviation RFO) is a Dutch radio orchestra, based in Hilversum. Philharmonia Orchestra
The Philharmonia Orchestra is a British orchestra based in London. It was founded in 1945 by Walter Legge, a classical music record producer for EMI.
