Enid Dame (June 28, 1943, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania – December 25, 2003) was an American poet, fiction writer, teacher, Editing, editor, and publisher. For many years, she and her husband, poet Donald Lev, lived in Brooklyn and in High Falls, New York, where they edited and published the literary tabloid ''Home Planet News''. She was on the faculty of the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, New Brunswick, where she served as Associate Director of the Writing Program. Dame's poems explored themes of urban life, Jewish history and identity, and political activism. She examined contemporary women's lives in persona poems that take on the voice of Adam and Eve, Eve, Lilith, or other woman from Jewish tradition. Harriet Patience Dame
Harriet Patience Dame (January 5, 1815 – April 24, 1900) was a prominent nurse in the American Civil War. Her portrait hangs in the New Hampshire State House. Early life Dame was born in Barnstead, New Hampshire (or North Barnstead) to James Chadbourne and Phebe Ayers on January 5, 1815. Dame was the youngest of five children. In 1843, Dame moved to Concord, New Hampshire where she lived until the outbreak of the Civil War, and worked at various occupations. By 1861, she ran a student boarding house. She had no formal training as a nurse. Civil War When war came, Dame, aged 46, approached the recruit training station at Camp Union in Concord and offered her services to officers there. Because the camp had no infirmary, Dame was put into service as a nurse. Dame served with the 2nd New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry as a matron from June 1861 to Christmas 1865 when the regiment was mustered out of service. Aurelia Napoleon "Bunny" Dame (December 6, 1913 – April 14, 2006) was a Canadian ice hockey forward. He played 34 games in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadiens during the 1941–42 season. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1933 to 1950, was spent in senior leagues. Olivier Dame-Malka (born May 30, 1990) is a Canadian-born French professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing with Rødovre Mighty Bulls in the Metal Ligaen. Internationally he plays for the French national team, and played at the 2017 World Championship. Dame-Malka is Jewish, and was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Playing career Dame-Malka played four seasons (2007–2011) in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), scoring 33 goals and 81 assists for 114 points, and earning 376 penalty minutes in 226 games played. On December 31, 2012, the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL traded Dame-Malka to the Toledo Walleye in exchange for defenceman Dale Warkentin and forward Max Campbell.
