Daly Gang
The Daly Gang was a notorious, though now unknown, bandit gang who operated in Aurora, Nevada and its neighboring parts.Thompson & West. The gang terrorized Aurora and was infamous for their armed robberies and shootouts. They were also known for their violent treatment of their victims and anyone who resisted their robbery. Aurora, Nevada
Aurora is a ghost town in Mineral County in the west central part of the US state of Nevada, approximately southwest of the town of Hawthorne, three miles from the California border. Today the townsite is much diminished, having been damaged by vandals. After World War II many of the buildings were razed for their brick. The road to Aurora was once difficult to navigate except via four-wheel drive, as the winter snows and spring run-off damaged the road in the canyon leading to the town. In recent years the operations of a nearby mine have improved the road so that even non-4WD vehicles can reach the town site. History Early Aurora James M. Cory, James M. Braly and E.R. John Daly (outlaw)
John Daly (1839 – February 1864) was an American Old West outlaw and leader of the "Daly Gang". Daly and his gang were known for terrorizing townspeople with the violent treatment of those who resisted their thievery. A citizen posse would catch and hang Daly near Aurora, Nevada after a brutal murder. Outlaw life, hanging John Daly, by most accounts, was born in New York and wound up in California by way of Canada. He was said by the Esmerelda Star to be a handsome man. Austin is an unincorporated small town in, and former county seat of, Lander County, Nevada, United States. In 2020, the census-designated place of Austin had a population of 167.
