James Dallinger
James William Dallinger (born 30 September 1985) is a New Zealand rower. He was a member of the World Champion under-23 coxed four in 2006, and the world champion senior coxless four in 2007. He has been selected for the New Zealand coxless four to compete at the Beijing Olympics. Early life Dallinger was born in Hora Hora, Cambridge, New Zealand and attended St Paul's Collegiate School in nearby Hamilton. He started rowing with the school club in 2000, where he was coached by three-time Olympian Ian Wright (rower). In 2002 and 2003 Dallinger was part of the U19 Eight that won the Maadi Cup – the first two wins in the school's history. International rowing In 2006 Dallinger was selected as bowman in the New Zealand coxed four, along with Steven Cottle, Paul Gerritsen, Dane Boswell and cox Daniel Quigley. William Dallinger
William Henry Dallinger FRS (5 July 1839 – 7 November 1909) was a British minister in the Wesleyan Methodist Church. He was also an accomplished scientist, being the first to study the complete lifecycle of unicellular organisms under the microscope and studying the adaptation of such organisms to temperature. He made numerous contributions to microscopy, and was president of the Quekett Microscopical Club from 1889 to 1892. Dallinger was awarded three honorary doctorates, the Ll.D. from Victoria College, Toronto in 1884, the D.Sc. from Dublin in 1892, and the D.L.C. from Durham in 1896. Dallinger was married to Emma Ion Goldsmith (1842-1910). They had one child, son Percy Gough (1867-1930). Johann Baptist Dallinger von Dalling (1782–1868) was an Austrian painter. A son of Johann Dallinger von Dalling, he was born in Vienna, and painted landscapes and animals in the old Dutch style, as well as portraits and Conversation piece, conversation-pieces.
