United States Hockey League (1945–1951)
The United States Hockey League was a minor professional ice hockey league that operated from 1945 to 1951. It was a post-World War II revival of the American Hockey Association, which shut down in the fall of 1942. The league playoff champion was awarded the Paul W. Loudon Trophy while the regular season champions were awarded the Directors' Cup. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. United States Hockey League (1945–51)
The United States Hockey League (USHL) is the top junior ice hockey league sanctioned by USA Hockey. The league consists of 16 active teams located in the midwestern United States, for players between the ages of 16 and 21. The USHL is strictly amateur, allowing former players to compete in NCAA college hockey. The Chicago Steel won the Anderson Cup as the 2020–21 regular season champions and the 2021 Clark Cup playoff championship; both were their second in franchise history. Operations The USHL is the country's top sanctioned junior hockey league, classified as Tier I. Leroy Goldsworthy
Leroy Delano "Goldy" Goldsworthy (October 18, 1906 – March 16, 1980) was an American ice hockey forward. He played in the National Hockey League between 1929 and 1939. Biography Goldsworthy was born in Two Harbors, Minnesota and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. Murray Armstrong
Murray Alexander Armstrong (January 1, 1916 – December 8, 2010) was a Canadian professional ice hockey centre and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) ice hockey Head Coach. Playing career Armstrong played junior hockey with the Regina Pats before debuting with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL) in the 1937–38 season. Two years later he was involved in one of the biggest trades of the decade. He, Busher Jackson, Buzz Boll, and Doc Romnes were sent to the New York Americans in exchange for Sweeney Schriner. He played three years with New York before World War II, in which he went to play and coach for the Regina Army Caps. Following his army service, Armstrong was signed by Jack Adams in Detroit, but halfway through his third season he was demoted after Adams called up an 18-year-old named Gordon Howe. Alexander Leone Lally "Bud" Cook (November 20, 1907 – November 13, 1993) was a Canadian ice hockey centre forward who played 50 games over three seasons in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins, Ottawa Senators, and St. Louis Eagles.
