The Dallas Generals was a team of the American Basketball Association that began play in the 2009-10 season. The franchise was owned by entertainment industry veteran Keio Gamble. The team's home games were played at Fair Park Coliseum in Dallas, Texas. The team ceased operations in January 2010 with announced intentions to return for the 2010–11 season. American Basketball Association (2000–present)
The American Basketball Association (ABA) is an American semi-professional men's basketball minor league that was founded in 1999. The ABA has teams based in the United States and previously had international teams based in Canada and Mexico. In the past, there were traveling teams from countries such as Australia and Japan who played in the ABA. Additionally, there were players from other countries that were on a U.S. team to showcase other talented athletes in the country. The current ABA bears no relation to the original American Basketball Association (1967–1976) that was considered a major league, and merged with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1976. Fair Park Coliseum (Dallas, Texas)
Fair Park Coliseum is an 8,513-seat multi-purpose arena in Dallas, Texas (USA) on the Fair Park grounds. It was home to the Dallas Black Hawks ice hockey team and Dallas Chaparrals basketball team. It was built in 1955. It was also home to the new ABA's Dallas Generals for the 2009–2010 season before the franchise folded. The State Fair Coliseum was the home of the Rodeo Cowboys Association’s inaugural National Finals Rodeo in 1959, and remained there through 1961. The Dallas Tornado soccer club hosted the four-team regionals of the 1975 NASL Indoor tournament. Taurian J. Fontenette (born 1983), also known as "Air Up There" and "Mr. 720", is a streetball player from Hitchcock, Texas, Hitchcock, Texas. He is a former player on the AND1 Mixtape Tour, AND1 Mixtape and Ball4Real Tours. He is 6'2" tall and weighs 185 pounds. ''Abilene Reporter-News'' is a daily newspaper based in Abilene, Texas, United States. The newspaper started publishing as the weekly ''Abilene Reporter'', helmed by Charles Edwin Gilbert on June 17, 1881, just three months after Abilene was founded.
