Dallara 3087
The Dallara 3087 is a Formula 3000 car, first used in the 1987 International Formula 3000 season, with which the BMS Scuderia Italia team competed in the first race of the 1988 Formula One season. Driven by Alex Caffi, it failed to pass pre-qualifying with its fastest time being 18 seconds slower than the time set by Ayrton Senna for pole position. The BMS Scuderia Italia team replaced the car for the next race with Dallara F188 which was specifically designed for Formula One. Development Giuseppe Lucchini was an Italian steel tycoon and motorsport enthuasist who had set up a racing team, Scuderia Italia, to participate in the Italian Rally Championship and later the World Touring Car Championship. For 1988, he turned to Formula One and contracted Dallara to build a suitable car, to be designated a Dallara F188, around a 3.5-litre Cosworth DFZ. Dallara is an Italian race car manufacturer, founded by its current President, Gian Paolo Dallara. After working for Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini and De Tomaso, in 1972 in his native village of Varano de' Melegari (Parma), Italy he created "Dallara Automobili". Dallara is also the sole manufacturer of racing cars for the IndyCar Series, Indy Lights, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Super Formula Championships. The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (), frequently referred to as ''Spa'', is a motor-racing circuit located in Stavelot, Belgium. It is the current venue of the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix, hosting its first Grand Prix in 1925, and has held a Grand Prix every year since 1985 (except 2003 and 2006). Spa also hosts several other international events including the 24 Hours of Spa, the World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Marco Apicella (born 7 October 1965 near Bologna) is an Italian professional racing driver. He competed in one Formula One Grand Prix motor racing, Grand Prix for the Jordan Grand Prix, Jordan team in the 1993 Italian Grand Prix. Osella is an Italian racing car manufacturer and former Formula One team. They participated in 132 Grands Prix between 1980 and 1990. They achieved two points finishes and scored five championship points. Early days Named after its founder Vincenzo "Enzo" Osella, the team began life by racing Abarth sports cars among local and national races in Italy since 1965. Though relatively successful (Osella eventually took over the factory Abarth sports car program), Osella expanded into single-seater racing in 1974 to further develop his business. The DFV is an internal combustion engine that was originally produced by Cosworth for Formula One motor racing. The name is an abbreviation of ''Double Four Valve'', the engine being a V8 development of the earlier four-cylinder FVA, which had four valves per cylinder. Its development in 1967 for Colin Chapman's Team Lotus was sponsored and funded by major American automotive manufacturer Ford. For many years it was the dominant engine in Formula One, with the whole engine program funded by Ford's European division, Ford Europe and engines badged as "Ford" for Formula One championship races. The FIA World Touring Car Championship was an international touring car championship promoted by Eurosport Events and sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).
