Anders Bendssøn Dall
Anders Bendssøn Dall ( Latinized as Andreas Benedictus Dallinus) was a Danish Lutheran prelate of the Church of Norway who served as Bishop of Oslo from 1601 to 1607. He played an important role in proposing a new church ordinance for the Norwegian Church to have more autonomy from the Church of Denmark. Early life and education Dall was born in Denmark around 1550; his parents' names are unknown. After entering the priesthood, he studied at the University of Copenhagen and other foreign universities. In 1591, after several years as a parish priest, Dall returned to the University of Copenhagen, receiving his magister degree. Priesthood Dall began his priestly career in the early 1580s in Denmark, first as the parish priest in Eltang and Vilstrup, before becoming pastor in Kolding in 1586. Nicholas Thomas Dall ( – 1776 or 1777) was a native of Scandinavia (probably Denmark) who settled in London as a landscape painter in about 1760. He painted scenes for the Covent Garden Theatre, though his engagements in that branch of art prevented him from painting many pictures. In 1768 he obtained the first premium given by the Society for the Encouragement of Arts for the best landscape. Dall Island is an island in the Alexander Archipelago off the southeast coast of Alaska, just west of Prince of Wales Island and north of Canadian waters. Its peak elevation is above sea level. Its land area is , making it the 28th largest island in the United States. Dall is used economically for fishing and limestone quarrying. Dall C. Fields (11 July 1889 Roann, Indiana — 17 August 1956) was an American bassoonist, composer, and music educator who for much of his career was based in and around Chicago. As a performer, he had been a bassoonist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra (1917–1918 season), the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra (1st bassoon), and later, the Bachman Woodwind Ensemble. As an educator, he taught mostly in the Chicago area, teaching out of his own studio and through affiliations with the Maywood extension of the Chicago Conservatory of Music. He also taught at Yale University and through affiliations with August Bucci (1897–1935), William Johnson of Valparaiso, Indiana, and the Valpo Music House (serving Valparaiso and Porter County). William Healey Dall (August 21, 1845 – March 27, 1927) was an American naturalist, a prominent malacologist, and one of the earliest scientific explorers of interior Alaska. He described many mollusks of the Pacific Northwest of America, and was for many years America's preeminent authority on living and fossil mollusks. Dall also made substantial contributions to ornithology, zoology, physical and cultural anthropology, oceanography and paleontology. Karl Bernhard Dall (, 1 February 1941 – 23 November 2020) was a German comedian, singer, and television presenter. His distinctive 'hanging' eye was caused by a congenital ptosis.
