Daisy Cooper (born 29 October 1981) is a British Liberal Democrats (UK), Liberal Democrat politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), Member of Parliament (MP) for St Albans (UK Parliament constituency), St Albans since 2019 United Kingdom general election, 2019. She has served as the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats (UK), deputy leader of the Liberal Democrat parliamentary party since 2020, and as the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for health, wellbeing and social care since 2021. Cooper was previously the Liberal Democrats' spokesperson for education from September 2020 to October 2021, and was spokesperson for justice and for digital, culture, media and sport from January 2020 to September 2020. The 2010 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday 6 May 2010, with 45,597,461 registered voters entitled to vote to elect members to the House of Commons. The election took place in 650 constituencies across the United Kingdom under the first-past-the-post system. The election resulted in a large swing to the Conservative Party similar to that seen in 1979, the last time a Conservative opposition had ousted a Labour government.
